I graduated with my degree in Early CHildhood Education back in 2009. Living in Ohio and knowing the state of education, I knew it would be hard to get a job. I found a retail job thinking I’d be in that position no more than a year while I looked for a job in education.
Three years later, still at the retail job. I have applied everywhere and anywhere near me, anything within an hour drive. Preschools, church nurseries, elementaries, etc. You name it I’ve tried it. FH has been an unbelievable support for me. Just encourages me at every stop and spreads the word everywhere that I am looking for a teaching job.
Well this month has been a very promising one and this week has turned out to be awesome. I’ve had three interviews in educational settings. Two teacher assistant interviews a couple weeks ago and yesterday a preschool teacher interview. Yesterday’s interview went amazing. I really connected with the three interviewers. I left feeling really good. I had one of my references text me hours later to tell me she had gotten a call from them. That made me happy.
Then this morning I got a call asking me if I would like to come in and do a classroom interaction next week at one of their centers. Ummmmm YES!!!!!!!! So i’m nervous and I’m excited and I’m just so happy. It looks really promising. Of course I am scared cause if I get it, I will only have like a week to get my classroom ready and get my butt into gear.
But I’m just so excited and I had to share. I know so many people wait and wait to use their degrees. I never thought I would have to wait over three years but I’m thinking it’s going to be worth it. Wish me luck!
