I'm in shock and just had to share this! An aquaintance of mine is newly engaged and was shopping for a photographer. After a few email exchanges regarding pricing he sent this back to her- (names have been removed)

    ABC,
That's ok, it doesn't sound like it will work. I dont think you can afford the prices, and I dont do payment plans. I am also no where near booking for 2012.  I am shooting 38 weddings this year, and I didn't book a single one that far in advance - I have gotten far enough in my career where I don't have to. I am also somewhat picky about who I work with, and what kind of asthetic the couple portrays - it doesn't really sound like a good fit.

    Thanks,
    XYZ

What does that last sentence even mean?! "sorry I don't think you're good looking enough to even bother taking your pictures!"

Geeze Louise! What do you guys think? Thankfully she ran screaming from this vendor- but have any of you had any horrid vendor emails?

Unbelievable.  He could have indicated that it was not going to work without being rude.

WTF!? I can't believe people hire these assholes. I wish there was a bridal site for reviews of vendors BEFORE the wedding! That way I know I don't need to contact douchebags who think they are so good that they can turn down business. You are better than me. I wouldn't have removed the names.

Honestly it sounds like that photographer has helped her to dodge a bullet - his own!  Better to find out about that kind of ego/personality in advance rather then the day of your wedding ya know?

I was lucky in that I didn't have any truly bad vendor experiences.

I would LOVE to share the name of the photog but I don't know if I'm allowed to? Any opinions? I wouldn't want to get in trouble for libel or anything.

WOW!! That is SO rude!! I would have responded with something like, 'Well, that's good. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on someone who has that certain standards when they look for clients. I will make sure my friends don't give you their money either.  Good luck with your business!'

@Miss Marine: It's not libel if it's effing true! You have a copy of the email HE sent. It's not like you are making up an email.

Lol I would copy paste the email, change it a little so it reflects how you couldn't possibly work with them and then email it back, lmao.

ETA: "That's ok, it doesn't sound like it will work. I dont think you can capture the beauty of my wedding, and I don't like amateur photography. I am also no where near ready to book for 2012.  I have 12 other photographers lined up to shoot my wedding, and I don't have to book a single one that far in advance - I have gotten far enough in my wedding planning that I don't have to. I think this is definitely a case where your friend should let everyone and their mother know the name of this photographer and how rude they were.

I don't think she really needed to go running, it sounds more like he kicked her to the curb. What an a-hole and how unprofessional! If I were her I'd post everywhere and anywhere I could that exact email.

I am assuming the potential client asked about payment plans so the assumption was made about not being able to afford the price.  I honestly can't believe someone had the audacity to write that.  They're not professional and frankly, I'd be happy I wasn't going to pay them my good earned money.  Still sickens me.

I don't think I've ever seen an email before where every single sentence was insulting. What a class act; I hope they give him scathing reviews on every wedding site they can.

    SERIOUSLY? This?-

"I am also somewhat picky about who I work with, and what kind of asthetic the couple portrays"

I don't even understand that... does that mean he doesn't like their idea for the look of their wedding or is he calling them ugly?  Either way that is absurdly rude. TAR AND FEATHER!

Eh well, I guess she did dodge a bullet. I've gotten a couple of emails from some vendors that managed to say the same thing but in a much NICER way. As in, yeah, they were a bit (okay a lot) out of my price range but they didn't make me feel like crap.

Wow, I'm pissed off for your friend. If I were her, I'd make sure to copy and paste that email into every review site that I could. Other brides who do meet this a$$hole's "asthetic" (is that how he spelled it? because if he's going to go around insulting people, he should really consult a dictionary) should know what kind of person they're dealing with before they hire him.

@KarenArnold322012: ^_^ Maybe I'm just being a bit of a bitch. Maybe. Just a little. BUT I HATE DOUCHEBAG VENDORS! I hate that people get emails like this and the vendor goes on their way and continues to be an asshole. Maybe it's because it goes against my Buddhist teachings. There is no way in hell that he should be getting rewarded with clients when he's a jerk!

You know, photographers should be required to hang out on wedding forums for at least a month before they are allowed to do business. That way they KNOW the majority of brides out there HATE THIS BEHAVIOR!
