Hey, we were going to do this too!

Don’t be afraid to use people’s engagement pics as your inspirations too. Just imagine them in ‘weddingy’ clothes! Their stances, locations and expressions are more what you’re interested in anyway. 🙂

Hello, congrats on finding a photographer!

When working with a client, I actually avoid having them pose too much. The best and most memorable photos are the ones that are created when the couple is just talking, laughing, and snuggling. Since your photographer is good at the journalistic approach, then she should be able to capture your moments.

 A few suggested poses:

Looking at eachother, holding hands.

Snuggled up on a set of stairs

In an open field, wide pan shoot

I would make sure that you have at least a few full body, forward-facing shots.  I notice that in some people’s more photojournalistic engagement photos (or at least the ones that they share with others), there are few pictures that really document how the couple looks without crazy angles, hidden faces, out-of-focus bodies, etc.  Along with all the amazing candid photos you’ll get, it might be nice to have some more standard poses to look back on years down the road.
