This is my site. It’s a historic lodge. I am not supposed to use any nails or tape to put decorations, but I can hang with string. I read a book that said that if your site already has character, you don’t need much decoration. What do you guys think? Also, my colors will be light blue/gray and yellow. There will be sunflowers, etc.

I don’t think this site needs anything other than your centerpieces and lots of candles.
The wood is far too beautiful on its own to cover or obscure.

Wowsas! I love it how it is- maybe lights… but it has so much charm, it looks good already. I would probably just have lots of flowers.

It’s true that you wouldn’t want to cover up the character of the venue. A little decoration never hurts, but be sure it’s in keeping with the style of the venue. In your case, you’ll want to add something to soften it up and make a wedding atmosphere. Some strategically placed pots of wildflowers, and maybe some fairly simple chair sashes, is as far as I’d go. If you can use old lanterns for lighting, that would match the character of your venue very well!

A few string lights across the large vaulted areas…might be very very nice.
I suggest also lots of flowers and candles too! Def decorate up that mantle over the fireplace..lots of greenery and flowers and candles there!

I like the idea of some string lights across the ceilings too…
Ooooh, and maybe a “candle” fireplace, so like lots of pillar candles in glass vases in the fireplace…

I agree, i think the place looks great on it’s own & with your centerpieces & maybe some candles. But i think it would look awesome with lights along the beams of the ceiling!

In the large room, with the exposed beams, strings of lights would be beautiful. I love miss trailmix’s photo, that would be exactly what I would do. The tables with linens and flowers will be enough to brighten the room. mabye you could put a colorful organza sash on the chairs.
Also, to brighten up a dull corner, if there is a plug available, I LOVE this photo… easy, and beautiful & it would match with strung lights.

I LOVE your venue…it’s beautiful. I, personally, would just decorate with the flowers. The pop of yellow from the sunflowers is going to brighten up the room, you won’t have to string lights unless you really want to. I do like the candle idea that trailmix had though…it keeps the rustic quality of the building.

I actually would have suggested paper lanterns instead of poms, but string lights isn’t bad either.
