I’m at a loss for what type of music we should play for our wedding dinner. We’re having an intimate dinner (25 ppl), not a full blown reception. However, the restaurant said we can have music playing in the background.
We’re trying to put songs onto the ipod, but I’m not sure what’s appropriate? Should it be background music only? Can it be upbeat music? (not meaning that I would put depressing songs)

i think jazz is fabulous. we had a mix of norah jones, frank sinatra, nat king cole, and michael buble. it just felt….snazzy i guess. more upbeat than your ‘typical’ background music. I just love jazz though! but really, play whatever you want =]

I think you should stick to instrumentals only of your favourites…that will keep the ellegance of the smalll dinner!

One thing I was told about this was to be a bit wary of classical music as it has so many loud then soft parts that it can sort of disrupt the flow of the dinner. I think both of the PPs had great ideas – instrumental versions of your favorite songs would be an awesome idea as you would eliminate the issues of classical pieces while still keeping an elegant theme, and then of course with the likes of Norah Jones and Frank Sinatra, you really can’t go wrong!
