I am looking for suggestions. We live in PA and are looking to go to a beach within driving distance for a minimoon in early July (yes, I have a dummy date in my profile). My friends and I used to do the “senior week” thing in Ocean City, MD, so I know that I do NOT want to go there! But I have limited experience beyond that. We still just go there now, but we wait until later in the summer after the rowdy kids leave!
Any suggestions would be appreciated. 🙂

Rehoboth is more laidback and an older crowd than OC. You could find a cute house on the beach to rent out. One with your own pool would be fun too!

- Wedding: October 2010 - The Atlantic Beach Club
I don’t know many areas around there, as I’m not from there, but I spent two summers on Long Beach Island in Jersey and loved it! There are some really cute inns and amazing restaurants on the island. I’m used to MA beaches, so I thought the beaches there were awesome, too. If you have any questions about it, I have lots of recomemndations 🙂

Cape May, NJ is nice! Avalon is great, too. What kind of beach are you looking for? Do you want a boardwalk at all or a quaint town?

Our plan would be to lay on the beach, play in the water, walk around, eat out. Looking for stuff to do — always wanted to do that parasailing off a boat thing. Shopping is fun. Don’t really care other than that.

I second Cape May. They have so many really cute B&B’s and the area is really nice. We go to OC, NJ for the summer which is fun also, but I think there are more cute things to do around Cape May than OC.

@Amaryllis: I say go with Rehoboth. I have been going to Rehoboth all my life and I love it there. First of all – TAX FREE SHOPPING! They have amazing outlets there just a few minutes from the beach. The beach is white sand, not too crowded, lots of great shops, antique places and restaurants. Its a great walking town/beach. Just a few miles from Rehoboth is Dewey Beach which has bars that you can go to – there is also a really amazing BYOB crab shack there on the side of the road. We are going back to Rehoboth Memorial Day weekend and I cannot wait! Also, you can take the ferry from Lewes (the town next to Rehoboth) to Cape May, NJ – its a short trip and you could still spend a day in cape May this way.

I third Cape May. Their B&Bs are amazing. 🙂 Good luck!
I used to have a summer house in Wildwood too. I love it because I find that there’s a lot to do around there. It all depends on what sort of thing you’re looking to do.

I also agree, Cape May or even Wildwood has a great boardwalk/beach with tons to do! You could do winery tours in cape may, beach, boarwalk, B&B…
This website is great.. http://www.wildwoodsnj.com/

I’m partial to Cape May, myself. It’s so historical and beautiful!

You guys are definitely making me think Cape May/Rehobeth is the way to go, especially since we could spend time in both with the ferry. PitBulLover, thanks for that tip!
