Hoping some American bees can help me out with a suit question! We just looked at some a Hugo Boss tuxes for Fiance in our city in Australia. They cost $895 on the american Hugo Boss website (which will not ship outside of the USA). The Sky Gala is $1500 here and the Stars Glamor is $1300. Quite a big a difference for the same thing, as is the norm when shopping here. We will be in America on holidays in August and in LA for a while where I thought we could potentially take the opportunity to buy the tux there. Do bees know if Hugo boss stores generally sell the suits for the same (or roughly the same) price as the website prices? (I will email ahead to see if they have what he wants in stock too.) I’m quite excited that he could get his wedding suit on Rodeo Drive, lol.

Most “Tuxedo” Stores here in Canada / USA deal primarily in the rental industry. They will order in from their long line of suppliers a NEW Tux for purchase. But it can be quite costly (don’t have exact figures)
BUT most of these stores also sell off stock thru-out the year as well. Usually items that have been rented out around 10 or so times.
They are in extremely good condition…
Mr TTR bought such a tux… it cost him $ 200 (Jacket & Pants). And he wears it a couple of times a year.
The only downside, is you are buying off the rack, so are taking whatever they have at hand at the time.
Hope this helps (some),
*Stand alone stores like a Hugo Boss etc, may or may not have Tuxes in stock… as they really are a specialty item. Guessing you’ll pay top dollar for them, because the demand will be fairly low in this Modern America’s very relaxed way of life these days.

Really? That’s surprising, if you can buy a standard tux off the rack at Hugo Boss store in Australia (apparently the most laid back country ever, lol) I would have thought they would stock it in a big USA Hugo Boss store. I’ll email and see what the go is perhaps.

@This Time Round: You’re thinking of tux rental shops. It is absolutely possible to buy a new tux off the rack on Rodeo Drive.
@Lollybags: The prices should be the same. Just make sure you’re looking at the main line (for prices online), not the diffusion. Generally only department stores and tux shops carry the diffusion lines.

Great thanks, I’m not sure what a diffusion line is though? I was on the regular Hugo Boss website if that helps.

@Lollybags: You can also use a forwarding company to get it shipped to Australia. My H does this for snowboarding/motorcycling gear. Basically the forwarding company gives you an address to get the goods shipped to and then they post it to you in Australia. It still works out way cheaper than buying it in Australia.
