Hey ladies, I just wanted to make sure you were all aware of the postage increase starting on May 12th.  When you're buying stamps for the Response Card (RSVP) envelopes, make sure that you either put an extra $0.01 stamp OR go for the Forever stamps.

They're increasing the postage rate on ALL stamps.  If you plan on sending out your invitations before May 12th, the $0.58 stamps should be fine.  However, if you're sending them out any later than that, you're going to need an extra $0.01 stamp!  =)

My fiance's mother works for the us postal service and she told us that they plan on raising the price of stamps every may from now on. So, my fiance and i are seriously considering buying the forever stamps now. Also, a neat idea one of my friends did was she had Response postcards, so you save money by just buying a postcard stamp. Good idea for letting everyone know about the increase though!

I really hope they aren't going to increase every May...I'd rather increase even every other year just so that this doesn't happen every time.

And why May? Right in time for wedding season so brides can freak out every year and overbuy postage? That's just mean.

My RSVP date on my invites are May 7th, so I should be OK, right?

I hope so.  I wanted to get pretty stamps instead of the forever stamps, so I people are replying that late, oh well.  (plus, I think for a few weeks they will still deliver with the old stamps)

Something else I wanted to let you know, candi's post reminded me of it. If someone sends you a reply card back after the postage has gone up, the post office will probably still deliver it, however they will deliver it "postage due" to you.
