Ugh, sorry you're sick! There's nothing worse than a summer cold!
I swear by Zicam--you start taking it when you first start feeling sick and it's supposed to decrease the amount of time you're sick. I really feel like it helps cut down my sick time. Also, make sure you rest a lot, drink plenty of fluids and take some Vitamin C.
Why do summer colds suck so much? I don't have anything terribly wise. But I'd agree with rest and drinking fluids etc. I think in the summertime we want to get out and be active. But I think it's easy to overdo it. (Hanging out with friends late, and not getting enough sleep.) You'll be fine come wedding time.
Just an FYI -- I think the FDA put out a warning about Zicam about a month ago, saying it makes some people lose their sense of smell. I remember because I had just used it for the first time leaving on our honeymoon, since I sensed a post-wedding cold coming on.
Try sleeping with a humidifier at night and taking steamy showers to help loosen up any mucus in your head/chest. Rubbing a little Vick's under my nose and on my chest usually helps me sleep, too.
@AmySue--Thank you for the update! I've always liked how Zicam cut my colds short, but I definitely don't want to lose my sense of smell!! Looks like I'm thowing mine out!
Sure thing! Here's the full report:

I'm sorry! Get lots of rest, drink lots of water, and don't start working out again until you feel better. ;) Seriously, pushing yourself when you're sick is a guaranteed way to stay that way for longer!
I actually managed to catch a summer FLU two weeks ago... nothing like a 102 fever when it's 102 outside. Ugh.

I just caught the dreaded summer cold. The wedding is still 6 weeks away, but I don't want to feel like crap leading up to it. I felt so horrible last night I couldn't work out and just plopped on the couch after I got home - that's not like me. I know recently there was a post circulating on how to battle the sniffles when they're coming on, but I couldn't find it.
I need advice, what do you do for a summer cold to get over it quick?
