ME! I chose that day too simply because the price was BETTER..for EVERYTHING..and because it was taken..lol!
Our date is Sunday the 1st of May. How does your timeline look? I haven't been able to find many resources on what a Sunday wedding schedule of events should look like.
@Hard Hat Purple Boots: We're actually doing ours at night, so it's looking like a Saturday wedding, just a day later. It's in my hometown, which is a 2-6 hour drive for almost all our guests. I worried about essentially forcing them to miss work on Monday, but our older guests (i.e. parents and their friends) will be able to miss a day, and most of our friends are students that will have that time off. We also figured that if it were on a Saturday, many of our guests would miss work on Friday, so as not to be driving in late at night. So it seemed pretty equivalent.
@Tennessee2Carolina: I've also noticed that it's cheaper (I've gotten lots of discounts). Also, vendors aren't booked up as early, so we've been able to find great people without worrying about booking a year ahead of time.
Are you guys having evening receptions or midday affairs? Are your guests mostly local or out of town? Are people okay with the Sunday wedding idea, or have you been getting flak about it?
And we are Sunday May 15th; the same day we got engaged, minus a year. Also, we're only inviting 80 people and the venue has an 80 people minimum. Doesn't seem right to just add people and pay more.
@jeffloveschrissy: Good luck getting exactly 80. We invited almost 160 and ended up with 106. Some of those we knew (about 10) and some we suspected (another 12), but that still left a lot of surprises!

It was amazing. Just got back from my honeymoon, now packing to move in a couple days so super busy. But my wedding day was just the greatest day ever, start to finish. We were surrounded by the people we love, they love us back, and they are just awesomely fun. Weather cooperated, DJ was great, and the whole weekend was just the most fun and joy I've ever had.

Anyone else getting married on Sunday, May 22? We wanted that weekend, but Saturday the 21st was taken. A week earlier would've been too cold, and a week later would've been Memorial Day weekend, so we just took the Sunday date.
It's working out well for us - deals on vendors, people more available, etc. And no one seems to be turned off that it's a Sunday, though we'll see what happens when we start getting RSVPs back.
Any issues with a Sunday? Only 5 1/2 months away!
