Welcome to the hive Jada!! Most vendors will still be available to deliver your cake etc, I would definitely ask them at your vendor meeting. Floral budgets depend on if you are having someone els edo them entirely, if you are semi-diy'g them, or all the way diy. I think rule of thumb is anywhere form 5-15% of your budget. I would defintiely say start with what is most important to you and make your budget fit around that thing. I personally put a high priority on photography because all that you will have left to remember your wedding by are the pictures.
You shouldn't have a problem with vendor availability. Sunday weddings are becoming more and more popular. I know of some reception venues in the Pittsburgh area that give discounts for Sunday weddings, since it's an "off" time.
Like crebre said, your floral budget is going to depend on if you're using a florist for everything, or if you're DIYing a lot of your flowers. Also depends on how many attendants you have, and if you're using floral centerpieces. Our biggest expense is of course the reception/food, followed by the photographer. Good luck and have fun planning :)
Hi Jada, and welcome!
Our wedding will be the Sunday before Labor Day in 2010 (so we are in a similar position). I have found that not only are vendors able to do Sunday weddings but will sometimes do them more inexpensively than other days (i.e. Saturday) even though it's the day before a Federal Holiday. In the U.S., Labor Day and Memorial Day aren't as big for wedding vendors, as say... Valentine's Day, Christmas, etc so they are definitely more willing to give you discounts. I will say this though - you need to start talking to vendors earlier than normal (due to the holiday weekend) to make sure you get your date. I'd also say, don't be afraid to ASK for discounts. A lot of times vendors won't tell you about Sunday discounts, discounts for this or that until you ask. :)
Bon Chance,
Bella
Hi Jada - Welcome! Is your wedding going to be in the Pittsburgh area?
I budgeted $1000 for flowers and we came in right around $980. My florist knew of my budget from day one, and was willing to work within it. And, he didn't seem think that it was unreasonable.
However, this meant that I had to make some cuts - for example, we just did small centerpieces for the reception tables that were mostly carnations and greens instead of roses or other large fancy displays. This saved us a toooon of money, and still looked nice. We splurged more on the bouquets and things that we knew would be in more of the photos. However, in all cases were we just able to go with less expensive flowers and still have all of the elements that we wanted.
Good luck!

Hello~ I was wondering if anyone is planning a Sunday wedding? I am planning for the Sunday before Memorial Day 2011 and had some questions regarding vendor availability. Especially regarding the florist and bakery. I just want to make sure that the baker will deliver my cake on a Sunday and the florist will deliver my flowers. Has anyone had any experience?
Also, can anyone tell me how much to budget for flowers? I have no idea where to begin. We are still in the very early planning stages and I am having a hard time with the budget.
