So I’m struggling with some scheduling logistics for our Sunday wedding – everything’s fine on Sunday, but the saturday rehearsal dinner we planned to have at our local dance studio, and have some food there as well as dance lessons for our guests. Really informal. The studio has another event at 8:30, so we are eating/dancing from 5:30-8ish, and have to be out by 8:15, and the plan was to go from there to a local bar and try to rent out some space. Well, they won’t reserve us any space if we’re not all eating…and their food is not super amazing. Also, it’s Saturday night, so it seems unlikely any venue would want to rent out to us, especially when we’re limited to places near the dance studio, or in Center City where the guests are staying. Any suggestions? Skip food at the dance studio so as to reserve space at the bar? I expect about 80 people might want to go to a/the bar afterwards. I feel like I’ve scheduled myself into a corner…

I don’t know how old people are that are going but we had our reception dinner around 6-7 so if you had it then you would have a few hours. Plus some of the older guests probably wouldn’t want to go to the bar with you afterward so you might not need to reserve space.

I think that you could find something at a bar. Most places just want you to drink. I am not sure where you are having your rehearsal dinner, but I work at public house downtown and would definitely put something together for you if you still need it. Our event coordinator is amazing and she works with people for rehearsal dinners as well as after dinner drink packages and event spaces. We have a private room as well so that your guests can stay away from the Saturday night party in the back room or go out onto the dance floor in the main space if they want. pm me for more info…. I would love to help out…. good karma…

I was just going to suggest the Public House in Center City! I knew they rent out rooms if you’re just looking for drinks and a few finger foods.
There’s also a new bar right on the parkway called Con Murphy’s!
