- Wedding: September 2014
I’ve been lurking for a while now but now that I’m finally engaged I need some opinions on my venue choice. We found the absolute dream venue for us — but since it is a working museum they only do ceremonies in the evenings for smaller groups (I’m having 60-75 people max). FI and I have our hearts set on an autumn wedding and want the ceremony outdoors if possible. So today the venue gave me potential dates and the most convenient one so far is September 27th, 2014 with a 6:30pm ceremony time. I looked up the sunset time and it is something like 6:36pm! We’ll have the light probably until 7-7:15pm but I’m so worried that it’s going to be too dark and the pictures will look like crap (to the best of my knowledge there is candles/lanterns but no streetlights, etc). We’re planning on a pretty simple ceremony, and I’ll ask at the meeting there this weekend if we’ll be allowed in to take pictures beforehand (because I don’t want to book this amazing scenic venue if we can’t actually utilize the scenery).
So, the question is should I even go any further with this venue? Would you book the perfect place if you only had maybe an hour for photos and ceremony? I’m kind of heartbroken about not having my wedding there, because it was so much of what we want. Plus, there’s not a ton of other places in our price range that have availability/amenities that are important to us that aren’t already booked up.
