If you love it, do it!  You will be a bride only once (well…hopefully! 🙂 )  I was recently married for the first time at 36, and also had a cathedral length veil.  When I was considering it, I felt odd because I was an “older” bride.  However, I’m so glad I did it!  I loved my veil. 🙂

I wore a veil like that, it was all beaded and very heavy. It was sewn onto my headpiece/hair to give the illusion of it floating on my head. It wasn’t very comfortable and my hair got all messed up, but it looked nice in the photos.

Don’t have any advice, but they veil in grog! Where did you get the lace from?

@Wakonyo21:  It’s pretty impossible to see in photos, but it was sewn on the outer side edges of the headpiece crystals with clear thread. I believe my mom used 2 loops each, that way the fabric wasn’t flattened but it did still hold. The silk tulle was fine enough to catch on the headpiece beading so it didn’t slide around on top.

I’m going to wear a veil like that…was going to talk to my hairstylist to see how she wanted to secure it, but I also have a headpiece, so I was kind of thinking that it would catch, and the hairpiece would just have to be secured pretty well.

Mine isn’t that long…but it is 110″ and I’m only 5’2″, so it’ll be close!

Oh and, @atlbride2013, I still love your whole look!

@Wakonyo21:  that’s really the only way to do a drop veil without a comb ala kate middleton. I found the combs looked too modern for my tastes. the pins didn’t do much to hold it in place and looked like weird dots so i nixed them. i’ve also heard of folks sewing it directly onto their hair, but then you have to keep your hairdresser for after the ceremony, to fix your hair.

@atlbride2013:  Where did you get your silk veil? It is TO DIE FOR.
