I could use your support.
I just got a call that my dress is in (YAY!!!!)
They booked me an appointment to try it on tomorrow. The thing is… I know with absolute certainty that it will not fit. I looked up the measurements online and measured myself.
They took 3 measurements of me when I ordered it (chest, waist, hips) but really because of my dress style the hip measurements don’t matter. When i measured my chest just now it’s the exact right size… my waist… off by 3 inches.
I have been seeing a trainer for 2 months and have been eating well. I think the training is going great and can see a difference (especially tonning, like my arms). i know the waist will fit before the wedding so in the long run, i know it will be ok (have just over 3 months). I know it will all work out…
I feel like i might have a melt down tomorrow when i try it on (even though i know in my head it will work out in the long run). The women at the bridal salon were super nice when I went 8 months ago… i just feel like they’ll think (oh god, it doesn’t fit!) and am worried about comments they might make.
So my question is… anyone face this problem and it all worked out in the end? I’d love to hear your story

I would just take a deep breath. If it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t fit — you still have plenty of time to lose three inches off your waist.
Haven’t gotten my dress yet, but I can’t imagine that the bridal salon will say anything at all. The things they must see every day. Just go in with an easy going mind and know that everything will be okay, even if it’s not tomorrow.

@beeintraining: thanks! i’m trying to prepare myself mentally! I know i can do it (lose the inches off waist)… i guess it’s more concern of trying it on in front of other ppl. If it was just me I could handle it. maybe i should bring a friend for support…

@future_mrs_m: Just relax 🙂 It is anxiety and if it doesn’t fit then they should be professional or leave a complaint. I would just relax because you have time for both alterations AND time to lose weight 🙂

@Payless: thank you. i do have a bit of an anxiety problem (esp. when it comes to weight). one of the reasons i picked that salon is because the girls were so great… so i’ll just hope they continue to be wonderful.

My dress came in last week, and when I called to schedule my first fitting the lady on the phone asked why I wanted to schedule it so far out (I was asking about a late October fitting). My voice kind of wavered when I answered that I knew it wouldn’t fit if I came in earlier.
“Oh honey,” she said. “Just take a deep breath. We’ve got two very talented seamstresses here, and no matter what, we’re going to make it work.”
She then went on and on about how they see this all the time, and listed out all the options I have for alterations (adding a corset back, putting in panels if necessary, etc). My point is– try not to be so anxious! They are professionals, they’ve seen it all before, and it will all work out. Your date is a little further out than mine, and you have the time to whittle some more off your waist. They will have other options for you to consider as well. But most important to keep in mind, time definitely HAS NOT run out! 🙂

@future_mrs_m: Good luck sweetie! It will all work out ok! I didn’t go through it personally, but my sister did. She wound up getting the dress let out, and it looked fabulous.
Just a note from someone who is also shedding for the wedding – my trainer has urged me not to do oblique/side ab work because it can wind up adding inches to your side.

They never fit on the first fitting. No worries. I got my dress and I’m freaking swimming in it and it looks so stupid, haha! Once they are done it will fit perfect, I’m guessing:D

just wanted to thank you all for your replies.
I worked really hard, had the dress altered a bit, and it fit!
Was married on January 15th and felt very comfortable in the dress
(standing weird in the photo b/c i was dancing!)
