I love Wyoming and spend as much time there as possible, but alas am not from there or marrying there.
Where are you getting married?
I'm from Wyoming!!! I am currently living in Colorado, but I grew up in Gillette, Wyoming and am getting married there in November. :)
Ha ha. I'm the opposite of you Kristin, I grew up in CO but am now in WYO. (Yep. I'm a greenie.) You're getting married in Gillete then?
We haven't figured out where we'll throw the best party we can (still have lots of time), but it will most likely be on the Front Range to minimize travel for most of our guests. We've talked about Steamboat (friend has a beautiful ranch), Breckenridge (my family's got a cabin there), outside of Fort Collins (where we met, I went to school there, my aunt just got married in her backyard - Best.Wedding.Ever!)... Quite a few options. I'm not sure how we'll narrow it down to be honest!
It would be fun to have it in Cheyenne (current place of residence), but I haven't seen/heard of a single place that I'd want to do it around here. I've seen a few weddings at the veteran's community places but I would skip the whole reception and just go to the court house if that was our only option! My future cousin in law is getting married here at the end of the month so we'll see how that goes. Maybe I'll get inspired! :-)
Where are you getting married, doctorgirl? I've read your blog but now I can't remember! I guess that's what you get for adding a whole bunch to the reader at once!
Yay! This is the first site I've seen where Wyoming is even included!
We are getting married at the HF Bar Ranch outside of Buffalo in September. We live in Colorado but met there, so it works...
I'd love any tips on bakers, hair and makeup people and anything else!
Yay for another Wyoming bee (even if I'm not technically one myself!) Unfortunately, I don't know how much help I'll be since I'm in Cheyenne I just book it down to Denver whenever I need something that I can't find here. I did go to a wedding in Sheridan a couple months ago, so if you have any questions I could probably ask the bride.
Good luck!
Hi everyone!! Another Wyoming bride here!! My fiance and I live in St. Louis, but will be having a destination wedding weekend in Jackson Hole in July. We're both so in love with JH - from the skiing to the food to the fun summer activities. Anyone else in or around the Jackson Hole area?
I'm at the opposite end of the state, but I worked just south of town on the Hoback River last summer. It is definitely a gorgeous area! I'm sure you guests will love it. Have you decided on a venue yet?
Hi caitlanc! I know where Hoback Junction is! Yes, it's a gorgeous area - we can't wait!
The wedding and reception will both be at the Lazy Moose Ranch in Wilson, WY. It's such an amazing rustic and elegant place. The ceremony will be outside by the creek, cocktails outside on the patio, dinner and dancing inside and s'mores roasting outside at the end of the night. http://www.lazymo.com/Welcome.html
For the rehearsal dinner, we're having the guests take the gondola at JHMR up to the top of Rendezous Mountain for a Western BBQ at 9,000 feet! None of us are really very "Western" but we all love the idea of being able to dress up in boots and hats for the occasion. I just got my boots last week and am so excited to wear them!
We're not getting married in WY, but my fiancé's mom and sisters live in Sheridan. They rave about how beautiful it is there!
I really want to visit the future in-laws in WY sometime soon! :)
missomally - That's going to be amazing!
Miss Rye Bread - I'm so jealous! Sheridan is fantastic! We're hoping that the college's rodeo coach position opens up soon and that they hire the Mr. There are definitely worse places to live!
I'm on the other side of the Divide from Jackson in Dubois. We're getting married on an old homestead on the Wind River Reservation. If the wind cooperates (please, please, please) we're going to have the ceremony on the riverbank and the reception under a tent in the field nearby.
We are a fairly "western" couple. Fiance is a dude wrangler and cowboys on weekends. We're having a vintage western/old west feel with a chuckwagon and hopefully a horse drawn cart. I'd like to get a band that can play a wide range of country (old and new) and some classic rock too. Any suggestions of bands that are close? ("Close" being within Wyoming, if possible)
Missomally, you're the closest to me, what are you doing for music? Ceremony and reception.
Harvestmoonbride - That sounds awesome! I love the Winds! I just went to a wedding in Sheridan last fall and they had a good country band but I can't remember their name. I'll try and find out who it was for you.
The folks that we're renting our tents from have these mesh screens that you can put up on one or all sides. The guy said the REALLY help keep the wind down inside the tent and will help keep things warm once the sun goes down too.
Yay Wyo! That's great there are more of us. @HarvestMoonBride. I think my band that we got is going to be awesome. They are called "CODY!" and are surprise, surprise, from CODY, so we're getting a hotel room in Buffalo for them. (Our wedding is at a dude ranch in between Sheridan and Buffalo.
Let me know if you want to listen to them and I'll give you the address to my wedding website!
well I am close in nebraska. But I worked in Jackson Hole for a summer as a pack trip cook and barn help. I love that area and is my dream to live there someday. I have also lived in driggs. worked on wild bunch ranch with the wolves, bears, etc. Beautiful there also.
We want to move to wyoming maybe in a year or two. My fiance works on a cattle ranch here in sandhills of nebraska. Wants to get more experience and then head for wyoming:)
We would love to get married there. who knows:)
Thanks MoSnow! Caitlanc if you do remember the name of the band in Sheridan that would be great! Thanks! I'm really excited. I fell in love with wyoming 20 years ago, as a kid, and finally got the chance to move here last year. I hope we never have to leave!
@ HarvestMoonBride - We're hiring a band called Soul Impressions from Jackson. They're R&B. We're doing a Western themed BBQ rehearsal dinner, so we wanted something different for the reception. My fiance is a musician and picked out the band. Apparently the lead singer is BB King's cousin! I'm excited!
HarvestMoonBride: I tracked it down! The guy's name is Justin Beasley and his number is 307 351 0035. Good luck finding a band!
Thanks caitlanc! I'll try to get ahold of him in the next week or so.
Missomally: Thanks for the suggestion. I'm looking more for a country band that can also play classic rock. Sounds like a pretty cool group though.
I also heard about this band that plays once a month at the VFW in Riverton. I guess they're out of Riverton and Rock Springs. I'm hoping to go see them play next month.
Ta Da! Brand new bee from Wyo. I've lived here all my life. In the Rock Springs area. I'm getting married in May and I have tons to do! Like, everything except the dress still! It's hard to find anything I want in this area and I have been doing a bunch of online shopping which is difficult when you're on a tight budget. But hopefully it all workd out!
Welcome Moonlark! Sorry I just saw this, how have things been going for you? I can imagine it's been pretty hard finding things over there!
I'm living in Cheyenne but getting married in South Dakota....it's hard to meet new people out here :(
@Ireland - I definitely agree! I moved up from Colorado and haven't done a very good job of meeting new people at all. I've adopted my husband's friends but that's it!
@HotDog - Oh WHAT?! I mean, I know I don't check out the blog very often any more (I haven't been able to keep up since the wedding) but I had NO idea that we had a Wyoming bee, much less that she lives in Cheyenne! Congratulations! I'll definitely be checking out your posts. I haven't been heard from any of the WYO bees in a while but my (CO) wedding was fantastic! :-)
cheyenne wyo bee here:) getting married at the botanic gardens :) and yes it is very hard to meet new people!!
Oh nice! The gardens should be gorgeous in June! And less than 2 months to go! Very exciting! :-)
I'm moving to WY after the wedding and I was surprised how little activity there is here.
Whoops! Hello JackieDe! Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I don't usually venture away from the Nesting boards anymore. ;-) You'll have just gotten married then? When and where are you moving? I'm actually no longer in WY but I'm not terribly far either.
Holy cow...it's crazy to see this board on the first page. How are the Wyoming girls?
@Ireland: Isn't it though? Well I can no longer claim much of any Wyoming now. J wasn't hired to coach in Sheridan (sad face) but he DID get hired to coach in Colorado about 85 miles from where I grew up! So that's been pretty fun. How have you been? I'm not sure if anyone else is still on here.
@caitlanc: I've been okay....I'm trying to find a teaching job in LCSD1 and my tutoring job ends on the 3rd so right now my stress is through the roof and I'm thankful I'm not planning a wedding on top of everything.
I'm sad there's not a lot of girls from Wyoming on the boards. We need to do a Wyo meet up or something
@Ireland: Oh good luck! What age? I hope something comes up for you soon! Are you registered as a Sub? I know my husband got by for awhile just subbing in that district.
@caitlanc: I prefer intermediate. And I am registered as a sub but my luck is I get the subbing positions when I have to teach health on STD day at the high school...yuk!
So are you still in Wyoming?
Ha ha! I hear that! One of my friends is a P.E., and therefore health teacher, at a Jr. High there. I don't know how she does it! She does have some great stories though. :-)
I'm in Colorado now but still not that far from WYO, about 150 miles south of Rock Springs. We're 5.5 hours from Cheyenne but we still own a house and most of my husband's family is there so we're in the area relatively often. Maybe we can make a meet up happen one of these days! We'll definitely be in town for Frontier Days!

Granted WY doesn't have a very large population, but there surely have to be some other gals from the area on here! Anyone? :-)
