I've tried and tired to convince my FI to do this but to no avail. DO IT! I think you'll have fun and you're guests will certainly be entertained.
I definitely say GO FOR IT! I really want to do a surprise first dance, so now my fiance and I are trying to figure out the perfect song for us.
I think it'd be a great surprise!! like so many things on the internet... even though we've seen quite a few of those I'd be surprised if any of your guests have seen one in real life. The only reason I think we'll not do it is that I really dont want something else to plan and worry about! :)
I'm doing it too! Go for it - I've got this thought in my head that I will regret it forever if I don't!
We're doing Stand by me for our slow song then we're gonna break into What I Like about You by the Romantics...
It will be a blast!
we did a surprise dance too, we did a slow song at first and then swtiched to a swing dance. it was great fun to practice, but i have to say no one was that surprised by our dance. i guess being a dancer myself, people just expected me to do something like that ;o).
DO IT!!! I'm kinda impartial since I have a business choreographing first dances so I obviously love them and FI and I are definitely doing one at our wedding!! If you need some help or inspiration, check out my site www.adance2remember.com you're welcome to use whatever moves or choreography you like! Good luck and have so much fun with lessons, it's a blast!
sorry! DOUBLE post! I just so too excited hahaha
If you don't dance normally - just keep this in mind - when you do it make sure you're having fun and don't feel self conscious or worry too much about getting choreography right.
It's totally obvious when people are trying to do choreography and feel uncomfortable because they look like they're taking it too seriously.
But when people are having fun even when they mess up people don't care. Just do it full out and guests will enjoy it. The bigger the better.
I agree. If we are gonna do it, we are going to do it fully. I was a cheerleader in high school and haven't danced for about 5 years. It would be fun getting back into it. I never got rhythm but as long as I am having fun, it doesn't matter...right? :) My FI, is extremely shy, and has never danced before. But, he is pumped to do this. Thanks for all of your inputs!

My FI and I are normally not very spontaneous. Our family and friends know that we are very very shy. But, for our first dance, we want to shock them. We are dancing to "Such Great Height" Juliana Daily version and it will switch over to "Never Gonna Give You Up" and rickroll our guest.
Do you think this is corny? What are some dance moves that you would suggest? I tried looking on youtube for rickroll frist dances but got very little luck. We both do not dance and are planning to get some dance lessons soon!
