I really, really wanted to surprise him with a keg of his favorite beer. It's impossible (literally, IMPOSSIBLE) to get since it's not carried by a major distributor and we have to use a certain one for our venue.
I don't have anything planned, but my sister in law hired a bunch of my brother's marching band from his college. He loved his college and their football team so it was very appropriate.
Is he into beer? Beer tasting?
I am going to surprise mine with a gift certificate to the store that sells the carburetor for his truck.
Hmm he isnt much of a drinker but there is only one beer that he loves and it is only made in Ocotber (Becks Oktoberfest) I wonder if maybe I could find a way to get it off season??
Let me give you an idea of things he likes:
-cars, specifically Nissan 350Z (which he owns), Ferraris (from the 60s)
-video games
-zombies
-drums and guitars (he plays both)
-golf
I wonder if I could join a car club and rent a Ferrari for the day?? HA probably not but he would love that!
@KMSull - what is his favorite beer if you dont mind me asking? Also, GIRL ARE YOU ENGAGED YET~!?!?! How was your dinner tonight!!!?
Well one more thing that I've added to my list of possible suprises is our exit song. He's not as traditional as I am. I've recently brought up doing At Last as our exit song. He loved the idea. Now I know what you're thinking "Where is the surprise?" Well he'll think we're going to play At Last and we'll practice at rehearsal dinner with it, but the day of I was thinking our exit song could be a Bee Gees song. See he loves the Bee Gees, so I think this would be a great suprise for him.
My other idea, though I have no idea how to find this... Get a garter done in his favorte comic book character. My cousin done her husband's fav football team as a supirse to him.
Ya know you don't have to spend money to make a suprise (hence my song). How about creating something for him that he can hide under his tux? Remember those friendship braclets we used to make as kids. Well one of my other ideas is sending him a note via MOH (sealed of course) telling him how much I love him and at the bottom I'll write "Will you marry me?" "Yes, No, Maybe" When he sends it back marked yes (which knowing him he'll be a complete goofball and check maybe, but lets just say he checks yes) I'll send him back a small token-a friendship bracelt that has beads in our date, our intials, or maybe just "I DO" and ask him to wear it on his wrist. I'll make a matching one for myself that I will either pin to the inside of my dress during the ceremony, put on my ankle or wrap around my bouquet. After the ceremony I'll add mine to my wrist as well. I think it's cute and my hopeless romantic would enjoy the sentiment. Matter of fact he might cry - maybe send MOH with the camera secretly recording so I can see his reaction.
Those are some of my ideas. i think with all the formal and expensive stuff it's really neat to pull of simple and sweet surprise.
Well, I sat here for a bit trying to think of something I can surprise my FI with and then the BEST SURPRISE EVER came to me!!!!!! I am surprising FI with....our whole freakin' wedding! He is so busy, and not the party planning type, so we literally almost NEVER talk about the wedding together....I am not sure that he even knows where the reception will be held..... He doesn't even know what he is wearing, I picked that out too. Definitely doesn't know the DJ, pianist, or vocalist that I hired. He has no idea what we're serving, or what the cake looks like. A lot of people ask me if this bothers me, and are surprised to find that I truely love it that way. We talk often about our MARRIAGE, just not our wedding. Party planning is just not his forte....
@clarebee that was me who wanted to suprise him with the cigar roller (weird that made me get all giddy like oooo that was me? not that it matters but haha it did!)
also, my FH likes zombies too...weird, huh? ;)
No ideas but I'd love to hear what you decide.
You shouldn't have to join the car club to rent one. A lot of people rent them, or at least, they can drive it to your venue for pictures.
I decided to get a piano player for the cocktail and dinner hour. My fiance knows about this but what he doesnt know is that we are arrving at the reception 20 minutes early and sneaking in and the paino player will be playing his favorite song and we will be the only ones in the room. We will get to see the reception hall with noone in it and get to appreciate it before all the guests come in and share some alone time. I think he will love it.. Just an idea, I know its kinda an expensive one but I think it will be remembered forever.
You ladies all have such great ideas to surprise your guys! I'm sure they will all really appreciate it!
One of my friends serenaded her new husband during the reception. It was a song that was special to them and very cute. She made him sit in a chair and she danced and sang around him. She did have a microphone, but she didn't have it on, so not everyone heard her. It's a very cost-effective surprise!

After reading that someone wanted to surprise their FI with a cigar roller at their wedding I started to think about what I could do or get to surprise my FI at our wedding. I dont want to do a grooms cake nor do I want to do a cigar roller, but I would love to do or get something for him (besides his gift) that him nor anyone else will know about until the day of. Is anyone doing anything like this?? Any ideas!?
