it’s not anything huge, but I just asked Hubby what his three fave cars are. I think that I am going to take him to test drive them on Saturday. I think that it’ll be something fun for us to do and I’m sure that he’ll love driving them. Has anyone done this?

I assume that he’s a “car person?” It sounds like a lot of fun to me!

Fiance and I actually do this once every couple months. Be careful about telling the sales people you only want to test drive and have no interest in buying anytime soon as it throws up red flags to them and some wont let you test drive anything. We always go in like we’re looking to buy a new car because either I want something bigger or he wants a new sports car and have fun with it 🙂 Just do a little research so when they ask what you’re looking at/for you can at least play along.

Yeah – if he’s a car person than I’m sure he’ll think it is awesome. It wouldn’t do much for my Darling Husband though.

@red_rose: and @Mrs.KMM: He’s not an over the top car person. but I know there were some that he liked a lot. We just got me a brand new car and while we were looking he was eyeing some things. I am excited.
@floridabride12: Cool! Yeah, I figured to act like we were actually in the market. I even told him to dress up a little more than a regular day, because some of the cars are Jaqs and sports cars. It’ll help with the image lol

My husband is a car person but he’s not the type to want to just go test drive a car if we’re not buying.
But I know a lot of guys are!
We’re just not big into test driving cars we can never afford or have no intention of buying. But that’s just us!
If your husband is I think it can be fun on a nice day!

Car Dealerships give me the creeps (I always feel like they are trying to take advantage/putting me down as a woman) so this wouldn’t do much for me. But if I were a car person, I bet it would be cool!

@crayfish: I’d never go by myself 🙂 Plus, it’s for Hubby not me lol

My husband used to sell cars when he was younger and hated when people did this. Salespeople are there to make money and it takes away their time from people who are actually looking to buy. Those sales floors are cutthroat, especially since it’s commission based.
If it were me, I’d plan a day at the racetrack.

Great idea! My husband would love this! I love surprise dates 🙂

I think it’s a fun idea! My Darling Husband is a total car guy and for a wedding present, I was dying to rent him a sports car for the wedding day to drive around in with his guys. Unfortunately, I found out that there are no “ultra luxury” sports car rentals in my area. You have to be in Vegas, Miami or LA to get the really amazing ones.
Also, a little side story. Some of you may have seen my post about our outrageous tax bill because my Darling Husband moved to the US last year. Basically we had to claim the entire value of his company as our income and pay taxes on it. It SUCKED, but the good news is that it looked like our yearly salary is INSANE, and my Darling Husband was able to take our tax return to the Lamborghini Dealership and take a test drive (because they insist on proof of income before they’ll let you). He had the time of his life!!

I hope you get one of the awesome car salesmen that just let you take the car out on your own. Even when I am shopping for a car, I always hate that awkward drive where they are sitting in the backseat telling you things about the car. They can do that at the dealership – when I’m driving, I want to focus on what the car feels like not the dude breathing over my shoulder
