Okay I am not sure if this is a common thing. Today while talking about honeymoons we mentioned to my fiance that if he wants he can "surprise me". Is this common..? I am actually really excited but I am leaving it all up to him. I will just wake up and head to the airport with him the morning after the wedding. He even said he wants to pack the bags..
Heehee not sure if I should be excited or scared..

Wow! I think it’s very romantic but I could never do it!
I don’t trust my FI with picking "the" place for us. We have different ideas of what a honeymoon should be and what a "nice" vacation is because he’s never really been on a nice one before.

We are doing the same thing. I just told him a few places that I think would be fun, but he can surprise me with wherever. I take care of most of our money so I told him I’ll need a rough estimate of what it will cost for the budget, but other than that.. I don’t want to know a thing! I’m really excited about being surprised and I know he’ll pick a good place to go.

I love my FI to death but would NEVER trust him to do this! He gets great ideas…but everything together to make sure the ideas go through smoothly isn’t his strongest attribute. 🙂 But we did agree we wanted to go somewhere that both of us have not been – so Turks & Caicos it is! Plus, we used some of my AA mileage and got a ticket for free.
I think it is sweet, though, if you trust your guy enough to do it. I’d love to be surprised, but am too anal to let my honeymoon be a surprise.

This is actually pretty common and I think it’s sweet even though my FI and I planned our honeymoon together. My one caution would be – don’t let him pack the bags! Never let a man do that, LOL. You’ll end up with only 3 outfits for a 7 day trip ha ha ha

My dad did this for my mom. He told her how to pack, and she didn’t know until they got to the airport where they were going. The Bahamas!
if you are worried, you could always specify something things you would NOT enjoy. 🙂

I think it would be kind of fun. I like suprises. But, my FI wouldn’t be able to do it…he’s too worried about it being what I want too. We’ve planned it together, which was still fun.

Heheh thanks for the tip on packing bags, he has been going to town with researching places. I trust him, we live in London but having the wedding in the States it will be interesting to see where he wants to travel to on this side of the pond. We have only been to the big cities in the States and neither of us have been to the Caribbean, desert, west coast so leaves a lot of options 😛
