Hello from sunny Arizona! I’ve lurked around for awhile, but thought I’d finally register for my own account and share my story now that I’m engaged 😀 My fiance (still weird saying that) and I have been together for just shy of 5 years. I travel for work almost constantly, so when we were looking for a house I told him I trusted his judgment, so if he found something he liked he should just go for it. He did exactly that, and told me he wanted me to wait to see it until he got the keys after closing so we could walk in it together once it was officially ours. Little did I know it was because he had this planned the whole time!!
We are both pretty nerdy, met online and are big into tech and have a long history of working for dot coms (although I’m currently in pharma). He told me he thought it would be cool to do an “unboxing video” of our new house (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=unboxing&defid=2828228) He said it would also be a neat moment to share with family and have on video. I agreed.
So here’s the video, it’s long- but all the action is in the first three minutes. The rest of the video is just a walkthrough of our new home 🙂 Note: If you *think* a proposal might be in your future and your significant other suggests you do your hair and makeup before going somewhere… LISTEN TO THEM. He told me I should get dressed up, and I did a half-assed job, having just flowin in from a business trip a few hours earlier (and was getting ready to leave on the next trip that afternoon). Wishing I looked cuter for the video, but whatever! It’s still one of my happiest moments and I think that outshines my bad hair day 🙂
Here is the ring… a 2.08ct Amora Gem set in the tiffany cathedral solitare setting. My dream ring! He noticed me lurking around on the better than diamonds forum and he figured out what I wanted and managed to get the Amora gem here in the US. Blew my mind! He’s a keeper <3
Anyway, we’re not setting a date or starting to plan until probably next year. No hurry. Just enjoying our new home and life as a happy engaged couple for the time being. We’ll probably have a small ceremony with our parents and siblings and then just have a big fun (LOW STRESS haha) backyard reception with our friends. This is a second marriage for me, and we’re in our 30’s and 40’s respectively and don’t want to spend a lot of money or get stressed out. I’m still on cloud nine and just truly enjoying all of this! 🙂
