I agree...and I don't think it goes with the shank.
Aww, I'm sorry you were disappointed. I've heard nothing but good thing about the moissoniteco service, so I'm sure the return will go smoothly. I do see quite a yellowish tint in the stone even in the picture, so I cant imagine what it looks like if its even stronger in person. Personally I'm not really a fan of the heart cut, but I think that setting would look great with a round cut!
I agree with you and I'm sorry you were disappointed. Hopefully you two can pick out something you really love and it will turn out perfectly! You're doing the right thing by returning it.
yea that looks really yellow/green. I'm glad I opted for the amora enhancement when I ordered my stone today!
Thanks, guys. It's reassuring to see you all agree with me.
Here's the ring we decided on instead, we both love it and have ordered from the company and been thrilled before. It's a Mexican fire opal set in 18k yellow gold:

Moissaniteco has great customer service.I've never had to return my ring but I've heard nothing but wonderful things.
Sometimes you get a yellowish or greener stone. Make sure to mention that's why you are retuning it and I'm sure they'll make sure the next one is almost colorless.
As for the size, I'm surprised. My ring is true to size.
I think a round stone would look amazing in that setting, but if heart is what you loke, maybe you can send them a picture of your dream ring?
I know they make replicas of rings and they are amazing according to the people who have ordered them and the pictures I've seen.
Im sorry to hear that :( Yeah it does look yellow/green. But the new ring is beautiful!!
@Otaqueen: Thanks for the info :) My husband did mention the color as a reason in the return form. I'm not sure if a moissy is what I want at this time. Truth be told, I've been lusting after the other ring for a while, and after we saw this ring in person we both agree that the other one is more what we are wanting. As for the size, who knows. It's the end of the day, my fingers could be a bit swollen. Although, I have a ring in a size 8 with the same mm band and it is loose on me. Either way, the sizing wasn't a factor in our decision to return, since it did fit. I'm allergic to white gold, so at the very least it would've had to be reset in a different metal.
I'm glad you all like the new ring. I'm so excited about it! Unfortunately, since it's made to order, it will take about 3 weeks :(. We're going to see if they can get it to us faster.
Also, WOW, I just saw another poster's heart moissy, same size as mine, and it is so much whiter than the one that was sent to me. Just re-confirms that this one needs to go back. Why are they sending out these super yellow/green stones when they apparently have much whiter ones (unenhanced) in stock? I mean, the stone I was sent is just ridiculously colored compared to other unenhanced stones I'm seeing on these boards. I don't know why it was even set in my ring to begin with?
That looks very yellow, especially in the first picture. I think you made the right decision!
You are the second poster to say something like this about moissanite this week. It seems like it's hit and miss with them. They have beautiful stuff, but apparently it's not super consistent or something.
I really hope you can return it, on their website it says anything over a size 8 is considered custom work, and they don't take back custom work
The stone does look really yellow though. I have read that any cut outside of rounds and cushions can look yellow/green, and this really exemplifies it. Maybe the other heart cut was Amora-ized, and this one wasn't?
@goldfishpie Wow, what you just said is really scary. I seriously hope we can return this.
No...guys I am seriously going to freak out if we can't return this. Like, you don't understand.
If I am stuck with this ring I will not be a happy camper/customer. If their aim is to please and provide customer service, MoissaniteCo will have to do something to make this right. The stone is just unacceptable, everyone here can see how green it is. And this ring fits even tighter than my size 8s, so the size is up for debate.
I am literally in a panic now!
@starla: you are right. It is quite yellow, I hope you will be able to return it!!
i had no idea moissanite would have that yellowish tint...
does anyone with a round one have that experience too?
Wow, that is super yellow! :( I'm so sorry. They won't take a return over size 8, that's true. They may offer to find a whiter stone though (you'll have to pay to ship it back, of course).
Aw what a bummer! Its such a lovely ring but I do notice the yellow tint-- my heart would have sank too :( But hey, the ring u chose after is gorgoues!!
I totally see the yellow!! I think I'm a bit color sensitive though. Sorry that happened!
Well, I haven't heard back from moissaniteco.com yet about the return. The ring is just unacceptable in so many ways, I can't tell you guys how crushed I am to realize these things about their return policy. I'm kind of mortified by myself to have potentially made such an upsetting and expensive mistake.
I ALWAYS check return policies on things before I buy online, but I was so caught up with reading the glowing reviews on this and other boards that it just didn't cross my mind that I would have a problem. Everyone else's moissy looks so much better than mine :(.
Truth be told, I've never ordered from a jewelry company that didn't offer a 100% gaurantee on their items. Big, big lesson learned here.
Moissanite Co. does claim on their website that their unenhanced moissanite is in the near colorless range, and the stone that they sent me CLEARLY is not. Guys, seeing it in the sunlight, it's soooo yellow/green. Even worse than when I opened it last night.
I am so upset over this I could barely sleep last night. This is potentially a LOT of money down the drain for us on a ring I will not be able to resell at even a fraction of the cost.
I'm just hoping that MoissaniteCo does the right thing and accepts the return, or at the very least, fixes this ring at their own expense.
@starla: There should be a live chat box where you can probably talk to them right away!! Have you checked?
@Mrsgurzakovic: Yes, thanks, I saw that on their site this morning. We only just emailed them last night, so they are not late in responding. I'm going to wait and see what they say about the return request before I start really flipping out. It's possible that they will be gracious and accept the return, given how unhappy I am with the ring.
I have to go to work in about an hour, so I don't really have time to sit here and chat with them at the moment. They will definitely be hearing from me if they refuse to make things right, though. I'm not the kind of person who will just walk away and cut my losses, let's put it that way. I'm not putting any more money into this ring, and at this point I will not be happy without a refund (I'll gladly pay their restocking fee to be rid of this thing) or at the very least, without them resetting the ring with a different stone at their cost. I'm big on consumer advocate sites and know how to make use of them.
@starla: I totally agree and you shouldnt just walk away.. You didnt pay a small fee for your ring and you expected your moneys worth. I hope they are kind enough hopefully to help you out and make you happy! Well all be waiting for your update!
Before you send it back.... take it to a jewelry store, have them put it on the sizing stick thing and see what size it really is!!! If its a size 8 or smaller then you should have no problem telling them the size was incorrect, if its a size 8 and you should be able to return it, if not then maybe exchange it for the new ring you love?? I agree its so yellow, I wouldnt be happpy either :( so sorry
@Future Mrs K: I was just going to type the same thing! You could even tell them the only reason you are returning it is because it is not the size you ordered and you took it to a jeweler who affirmed it. When they ask if you would like a resize just say no, I want my money back.
This is all quite a bummer. I'm sure they'll let you return it. It's not like you could see it in person before you bought it. I think it was probably the heart shape cut. I didn't even know moissy came in heart shapes now. Anyone else seen it in hearts??? Charles and Colvard only distributes it in round brilliant. I guess third parties are cutting it down further now.
Well, glad you have another ring you love in mind!
You should be able to return it, IMO, based on the fact that all their photos show colorless stones, their information pages say how moissanite is near colorless, and that is NOT a colorless stone.
I ordered earrings from them once that had oval moissanites. They arrived and they were pale mint green. I emailed and the owner responded and offered to replace them with Ashas free of charge. (Ashas are a lot less expensive than moissanite so this was unacceptable to me. Don't let him do this to you.) I asked if this was old stock or something and he said no, that's just what color they are. I returned them but had to pay a restocking fee, which I found pretty annoying, but I didn't push it.
I think moissanite owners do people a disservice when they claim that moissanite is colorless or that it looks exactly like a diamond--this is just not true. I have and love some moissanite pieces but they are a different stone entirely, they are not good diamond imitators.
Thanks everyone. I have thought to take it to a jeweler and see what size it really is. I'm just hoping they will let me return it without hassle. If not, I will definitely have a jeweler put it on the sizing stick.
@over the moon: I agree, and I will have to dispute the transaction as fraudulent if I don't get a refund. There is absolutely no way I will settle on them replacing the stone with a CZ.
I love the heart cut but I def see the color, I'm surprised it's so yellow! Good luck with the return!
I'm so happy and somewhat surprised (pleasantly) to say that MoissaniteCo has accepted the return request, no hassle. I was freaking out for a minute that I would be stuck with the ring, but that's not the case.
Final verdict: I will try moissy again someday - next time, in an Amora round. I love the sparkle, and I was glad the company is working to make things right, pretty much no questions asked. I would go through MoissaniteCo again in the future, but definitely go for a round.
I do think the cut makes quite a difference with moissys sometimes. For example I have a round, un-enhanced, and there is no color in it at all, but I've heard that other cuts like princess, marquise, and pear have a bit more color. It seems that heart is probably on that list as well.
But the other ring you picked looks amazing! I love love love gemstones in yellow gold!
@MrsNerdy: Yeah, the different cuts tend to have more color. Also, a bigger stone will show more color. Round has the least amount of color. I have a pair of 1ct unenhanced moissy earrings and they are white.
OP, glad to hear that they were able to do the return for you.
@starla: Oh I'm so glad they took it back! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you about the return policy; I only know it because I'm a size 8.5/9 and so I remembered reading it. Yeah the unenhanced stones in fancy shapes (radiant, oval, heart) are notoriously yellow/green. I hope it doesn't turn you off of moissanite forever though! In 2015 (or earlier if they can change the patent) a whiter "breed" of moissanite, the Amora Gem, is coming out and it's supposed to be even more brilliant and whiter than the ones now! And it will have the Heart and Arrows cut, so it's going to be really pretty.

So...
My birthday and Valentine's day are within a week of each other, and I had emailed my husband a few rings I really loved and wanted as a potential gift. One of them was from Moissanite Co., and that's what I ended up recieving today. It's not my birthday yet, but my husband wanted me to open it today.
Well, I opened it, and we were both kind of disappointed. :(
First of all, I'm allergic to white gold. Since I do own and wear (through the pain) a couple of WG rings, that fact kind of slipped DH's mind and he ordered it in WG. I thought OK, no big deal, I'll just send it back and get the same thing in palladium. However, as I kept staring and examing the stone, I realized it's just not for me.
It sparkles like CRAZY, which I love. However, be it due to cut, size, or both, the stone just looks SO green/yellow to both myself and my husband. Keep in mind, I'm a girl who prefers warmer diamonds to colorless diamonds, and didn't even expect the moissy to look much like a diamond, but this was just too much for me. I think that, coupled with the heart shape (which I usually love) just made this ring look too odd to me. Honestly, my heart kind of sunk when I saw it - not the reaction anyone looks for with a new piece of jewelry. Also, we had ordered a size 8.25, which is a half size bigger than my true ring size, and it feels too tight for the size it's supposed to be, even taking the band width into consideration. Not sure what to make of that. The setting is beautiful, I will say that.
After thinking it over, both of us have come to the decision to send it back and request a refund. I do believe that I would love moissy in a round or OEC and it is a gorgeous stone, it just didn't seem to all come together with this particular ring. DH said the company was nice to work with, and I hope everything goes smoothly with the return (my stomach is in knots about this!). I will most likely buy something from Moissanite Co. in the future, but next time will try a round cut. The sparkle is stunning, but the color in my stone was just too much.
I'm kinda bummed out by this whole thing, but not majorly. It was an awesome gesture from my husband, and we've chosen something else together that we both like, and it's in 18k yellow gold so it will be comfortable for me to wear.
Here are some pics I took of the ring while debating over it with DH. It's now back in its box ready to be shipped back ASAP.
The pictures do not really show how yellow/green it is. What do you guys think? Did anyone else feel the same way about their stone? Should I be anxious about the return process?
