I try to surprise my BF frequently with small things, usually food haha. Today I was out with my mom and I picked up a Thai iced tea for him on my way home. Little things just to show him that I care. For Christmas I got him pretty basic things. Cologne, a cook book, a mini food processor. For his birthday I got him the Game of Thrones audiobooks. I’ve surprised him with a day trip to San Diego. And Santa Barbara. He loves when I cook for him. That’s about half the time but he would love it if I made something fancy. Some how I feel like none of this is helpful to you 🙂

I find that what really touches my DH’s heart is when I make a concerted effort to focus on him and what he may be thinking and feeling instead of my being absorbed in whatever tasks I’m trying to accomplish or focusing inward on how I may feeling about something.

I am someone who tends to always be thinking, planning, analyzing, and doing, and I so rarely ever just “am.”  He loves when I deliberately choose to be present in the moment with him.

I think the best little gift I ever gave DH was a box filled with little trinkets. Each of the trinkets had a note attached to it with a reasons why I loved him, poems I had written, things I couldn’t wait for in our relationship, etc. I believe I gave it to him on our 6th anniversary, and he’s kept it ever since (6 1/2 years later). It was really easy, and relatively cheap, as I bought most of my supplies at the dollar store…

If I’m out shopping for myself I try to pick up little things for my SO, sometimes I’ll get him a new container for his lunch, other times I’ll pick him up a new tie or cufflinks. I used to buy him shirts but he only gets custom ones now :/ so I stick to the other stuff now. For Christmas I got him a Wenger watch from Costco, he wears it a few times a week (he also has a broken Rolex and a Swatch).
