I think red would be okay. As long as it goes with everything in your wedding! Plus it is what you and your groom wants.

Red in general is ok, but I wouldn't recommend that style dress in red. The qipao/cheurngsam in red is a bride's wedding gown. Do you want to dress the bridesmaids in a bride's dress? The qipao is red is supposed to draw attention, because of what it represents. If you like the qipao/cheurngsam, they come in lots of other colors. Do you have other colors you'd like to use for your wedding? Pink, celadon, blue, would all look great too... your call.

I would also avoid having your bridesmaids wear red qipaos as it is traditionally reserved for the bride.  Also, you might want to check with your bridesmaids to see if they are comfortable wearing a dress with a high slit.  Qipaos come in many other beautiful colors and fabrics that would make wonderful bridesmaid dresses.

The red qipao is generally for the bride, not the bridesmaids.  I just had mine wear traditional bridesmaid dresses. From what I understand, only the bride should wear red during the day of the wedding. I've attached a picture of what I wore for the tea ceremony.
