My wedding is on Saturday and I just realized I don't know if I want the table setup I originally thought about. We have a platform that is backed into a wall, so enough room for about 8-9 people at a square head table, going all the way around. I thought this would be ok, except it places one of our groomsmen and one of our bridesmaids at different tables (she would prefer it anyway).
Is this ok to have only the majority of the wedding party at the head table, or should we get a sweetheart table?
Two problems? I don't know if my florist can make onther centerpiece in time and I don't know whether my venue has the right shaped-tables for a sweetheart table.
I like the idea of having a sweetheart table if it means all of your bridal party will have a seat at your original head table. Whether or not your one BM sits there can still be up to her.
If your venue has a 6 ft table or smaller, that would work fine. Call and see what they have. You could always bring a table yourself. And as for sweetheart table decor, is there anything you could use from your ceremony decor? How about your unity candle? Or, you could always lay all of the bouquets on the table or put them in vases. I'd still check with your florist. It probably wouldn't take her too long to make something else, plus, she probably will have extra flowers from your order.
I just called my florist and she said that she'd make an extra centerpiece, not a problem, so looks like we're going with the sweetheart table. It looks like we won't spend a lot of time at it anyway with the walking around and all, so it should be ok. My new bridal party table will have 9 people so FH and I can just pull up a chair and chat for a bit.
