I know this is and old thread, but I think the song would work--I actually just heard a cover of it the other night (I think it was Madeline Peraux?) done in a slow vocal jazz style, and it's like it was made for a slow swing dance. :) So pretty!
to do a swing dance or lindy-hop, you very specifically need to have a specific rhythm, "eight to the bar." you know, with an eight-count that can be broken up into beats/steps of four (or eight) or combinations thereof. i love leonard cohen, and am trying to sing that song in my head right now.... and i'm quite sure it is not at all in swing rhythm. i think it's very slow, too, right?
We've been practicing, and it is indeed possible to swing dance to this song. It's a bit slow for a swing dance song, but that works just fine for us.
Oh, you can swing to almost anything! If it's too too slow, trying dancing double time!

My FI and I want to have a swing dance as our first dance. We both like the Leonard Cohen song, "Dance Me to the End of Love," and are trying to figure out whether it would work as a swing dance song. I found it on the set list of a swing dance club, but it would be nice to get some confirmation that it would work. Any more experienced swing dancers have any thoughts?
