It has been a rough couple of weeks for me. I have a 12 year old beagle who I love dearly and is like my child. We found out that he has tumors on his liver and spleen. The vet said he didnt recommend surgery because of his age and doesnt feel he could survive. I am on disability right now so me and dh were scrambling to figure out to pay for all of this. The vet was nice enough to work out a payment plan for all of the tests but we still needed money to take care of him when his time comes. I wound up switching out my center stone in my engagement ring from emerald cut to round cut. I was able to get a lot more money back for the emerald cut stone because the quality is better. Whats funny is I actually like the round better in my setting than the emerald. I will do anything for my doggy and this is such a learning experience for me that if I have a pet I need to have money saved in an emergency. Here are some pics of my ring.

You are right, the round cut stone suits the setting better.

First of all, I really think that was such a sweet, unselfish, thing of you to do – and the new stone looks amazing.
And I wish you the best of luck with your little friend – just remember, sometimes you have to let them go no matter how much it hurts you. Our family held on to our 14-year-old cat far too long when I was a teenager. We did it because we just couldn’t imagine our lives without him, but in retrospect it would have been kinder to let him go to sleep sooner.

ashley99: I am so sorry to hear about your sweet pup’s illness. I hope that you will have some wonderful memories and lots of chances to cuddle with him in the time you guys have left together. I think it’s so beautiful and loving that you were willing to sacrifice something that means so much to you in order to make your dog more comfortable.
Your ring looks beautiful with the round stone in it. It is a very beautiful setting!
