I despise SYTTD Atlanta...I just think its a horrible copy of a great show...everytime I accidently record it I lose my mind...I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Kleinfelds version of Say Yes to the Dress, and I don't understand why they COMPLETELY copied the shows format to an identical show with people who just sound super annoying...I'm sorry Atlanta fans...but I was wondering if I was alone in feeling cheated by my unsuspecting TiVo.... =)

@Dolldancer8:I love the Kleinfeld's version too! I think what's bothering me about the Atlanta version is Monte. He's just so way over the top, talking about being a fairy godmother and what not.

I enjoy watching them both, but Kleinfelds is much better. Lori gets on my nerves.

I hate how judgemental they are and how "nasty" they talk about the guests and such. I watch it but it's not great, it's more about the store and employees than about the brides.

I like the staff/consultants at kleinfeld's better but the southern brides of SYTTD Atlanta and their families are more interesting to me-way more mama drama:)

The only reason I like to ever watch Atlanta is to see more dresses that are realistically in my price range.  Otherwise, Kleinfelds all the way!

I'm conflicted. In recent years, the Kleinfeld show seems to have changed to push their exclusive designers. It's like the Pnina show sometimes. I like that ATL has more variety, but I don't like that they don't mention the designers.

Monte didn't work at Lori's originally. TLC supposedly "suggested" that he be the Randy for that show. He's from Arlington, VA.

Google hs name and you'll probably find a story about it (perhaps from The Washington Post?).

I'm just about to watch the highly unpopular SYTTD Atlanta but I just wanted to add something else: I love how it's tooth-optional. Way more interesting than the uppity Kleinfeld crowd. Lol

@Jeannine @ Small Chic: I agree. EVERY time I sit down to watch the Klenfelds one, they ALWAYS are trying on Pnina dresses (which aren't even my style so it annoys me!)

For the record, I'm watching it right now and a chick just tried on my dream dress!

While I agree the NYC version can be the Pnina show, I definitely prefer it to ATL...and I live in ATL! Love Randy--truly knowledgeable. Hate Monte.

I like Lori and her little southern idioms like "this is as fun as a fly in my chardonnay".  I think the brides are a bit funnier.  I also like that I feel like I'm not seeing the same dress over and over like in kleinfelds.  But I like the kleinfeld staff better, esp Keisha.  Either way I watch them both.

@MASPA: LoL.. I like Lori's idioms too.  I actually live like 10 minutes from Bridals by Lori and went there when I was dress shopping.  I like both shows.. I enjoy the brides on the Atlanta version more, but I like the consultants at Kleinfields.  And I agree with a few PPs, Atlanta definitely shows more variety in dresses.

@skunk: Which girl? I loved the fit & flare with the two rows of sequins that was on the african american bride to be.

The only problem I have with Atlanta the ridiculous notion about not telling the grooms see the dress. I'm sorry, if I'm paying for me dress, I really don't give a damn about your supersitions. If I want my groom there please mind your business.

I really like to watch both shows! I think Lori's sayings are pretty funny but I have to give all my love to Randy.  It's scary what I would do to have him be my bridal consultant lol

I watch them both, but I like the original the best.  I know this has nothing to do with the show itself, but is anyone else bothered by how Lori does her eyeshadow?

To be honest I often find myself liking the dresses on Atlanta a lot better than Kleinfelds, much more my style. That being said I absolutely DESPISE the phrase "jack her up" and teased my local boutique about it relentlessly.

I do agree with the other posters that the Atlanta phrases as a whole are down right hilarious.

I live overseas, so I have seen neither show yet... but I got my dress at Lori's and was very satisfied with my consultant's work. Monte did peek in later because I was having a hard time deciding between two dresses and he made some very sensible remarks on pros and cons for each dress. And yes, his way of presenting himself was a bit over the top.... :p

ATL seems to be a show capitalizing on the drama of the consultants/Lori/Monte more than it is about showing the dresses. While Kleinfelds does show the same dresses over and over, at least they make it more about the dresses than the drama of selling wedding gowns. While reality shows are what they are and are all fake to a degree, I hate the SUPER fakeness of ATL...

Have you noticed that the consultant interviews for the ALT show are quick and to the point?  They don't really get much personality.  Last night, a girl just said something like "Next, I put her i in a strapless, lace, mermaid gown with embelishment at the waist."  The edit on the NYC show would have been Keasha saying "OH MY GOSH! That dress was terrible!"

I wonder if there are different teams doing the editing?

BTW, my fiance will bust out "no foxes in the hen house" randomly all the time. :)

I think Atlanta is hilarious. The one liners from the consultants and some of family members are priceless.

Kleinfeld's seems so stuffy in comparison!

I watch both...mainly because I'm obsessed with dresses and always have been.

Atlanta seems like the try to hard to be characters. Lori is kind of mean sometimes, and monty is NO randy.  The phrase "Jack her up!" makes me want to punch somebody.

Kleinfelds is great because I live in an area thats years behind on fashion and I love seeing what's fresh when it comes to fashion.  No, I could never afford a dress from Kleinfelds...but I love seeing them. My friends BEGGED me to go to kleinfelds, and would have been awesome, if I could even afford a trip to NYC in the middle of wedding planning Smile

I really dislike SYTTD Atlanta. I think they are rude, especially in the interviews. The bridesmaid show really pissed me off. The woman is like I hate the bm section. It's like seriously?? Do you WANT customers? lol I would never go their because of what they say.

Ugh I cannot stand the Atlanta version either. It just seems like a blatant rip-off of the NYC one, like all the consultants there are just playing "parts" of people on the NYC one. There's no substance to it whatsoever.

THe original is way better in my opinion, however I watch both.  Partly because I like to make fun of what I see on the Atlanta version, including Monty.  The one thing I'll say about Lori though is that someone does need to tell the obnoxious friends/mothers to STFU sometimes, and I appreciate it when she does.

I too have noticed how freakin young 90% of them are.  I guess its the norm to get married to someone at 18-19 yrs old there?

I like Kleinfelds A LOT more. I think the bridesmaids/sisters/families are A LOT meaner and way more opinionated on the ATL show. They are always putting down the brides picks, its strange to me and makes me wonder if it is staged just for the drama of the show??

I just wanted to dispell a rumor. Someone wrote that they liked the Atlanta version better because it was more accessible to all brides pricewise (not the wording they used but paraphrasing). NOT TRUE! I grew up in NJ/FI lives in NYC so I have had the Kleinfelds experience. I live in ATL full time so I have seen Bridal's by Lori. Brides by Lori's bottom dress price is actually higher than Kleinfeld's. Basically their selection of dresses at the bottom are limited. As a sidenote, I have friends who got their dress there because they carried it but had HORRIBLE experiences there. The thing with the two versions is there is no incentive to be on the show except the show. You get no money, nor a discount off the dress or accessories. It could just chalk up to the personalities in the areas and the infamy of the shows (Kleinfelds has a worldwide reputation). I definitely think it's staged.

Regarding staging, it happens on both. Remember the redhead from Minneapolis who flew in for her appointment at Kleinfeld? They made her out to be a brat, referencing her father's plane and how long she took. Her sister or SIL had a blog that had a post about the wedding and people posted all sorts of comments about the ride. The blogger responded that the producers definitely had an angle and pushed it.

I remember how that bride showed up towards the end of the day to try the dress on again and they made a big deal out of that, but on other episodes, management is shown encouraging brides to go to lunch to think about thing or to come back another day. Obviously, that's just one example, but I think the producers def encourage drama.

@Jeannine @ Small Chic: i agree that a lot os staged.

i will wich both but i have a deffinate prefrence to klienfelds. there its more about the brides than atlanta where it is more aobut the characters of the management.

i also HATE the phrase "jack her up" GAH!!!! it makes me irratated
