So me and FI are on a pretty tight budget so I am trying to DIY as much as I can – what do you think of having fresh fruit as a centre piece? The venue is providing simple vases of fresh roses on each table and I also have scatter gems to go around the vases. These are my wedding colour theme inspiration pics and we are also having a vintage/shabby chic feel to the wedding:-
It was my FI who suggested that we have fruit just like the first inspiration picture. I quite like the idea, its vintagey looking and also goes with the time of year (summer) and it would be a cheap option, but what do people think? I just dont know if guests will ‘get’ their purpose and wonder why we have bowls of fruit on the table lol rather then a glass bowl with candles floating in etc. When FI first suggested it we went thrift store shopping and I managed to pick up quite a few different crystal decorative bowls, all diff sizes and shapes, FI thinks we should have a bowl with peaches and strawberrys in and then a smaller bowl with some clotted cream in on each table. Opinions??

I think it would bring very nice color to your table. Just be prepared for some people to think that they are “snacks” and eat them. 🙂

Fruit centerpieces are lovely. I don’t think you have to worry about the guests not knowing what to do.

I’d totally eat them. I’d eat them off the screen, the color looks fantastic! I think it’s a lovely alternative to the ol’ candle-in-a-bowl.
One of my colors is apple green and I showed my mom my inspiration board. It had some apples on it; I was just using them as a color reference, now she wants them in the decor! I might put out bowls of them like you are with the peaches.

Ah thanks bees! Im glad everyone is so positive about it! I was hoping it would go down well as i wanted to go with it as its practically the only thing FI has come up with – although he did steal it from the picture I showed him haha 🙂
@shannonh32: I dont mind if people eat them as long as the photographer gets a chance to snap all of my hard work first 🙂
@sweetcrackers: I think apples would work great – you can get so many different varieties and colours it would look fab!
