I’ve seen ribbons done a few times with great results!

I also love the look of lace doilies:

Can you tell us more about your wedding?

I have attended a dinner party where they used a roll of Kraft paper as the table covering.

The paper was topped with lace doilies and clear glass plates similar to this idea.

Here’s a pic of kraft paper used with a runner for a Thanksgiving dinner.

Other ideas would include, sheets, shower curtains, and lengths of fabric left unhemmed (just puddle the fabric on the floor)

Linens come with our venue but we wanted some color added to them so FMIL picked up bolts of a fabric that is in our colors and made some squares to lay over all the tables to jazz them up. I can’t wait to see them!

If the venue doesn’t provide linens, you can buy white linens very inexpensively from many vendors, then sell them after the wedding. You can even buy them used from Craigslist.

Go to   http://www.google.com

enter    site:craigslist.org

then add what you are looking for  e.g white tablecloths

Our venue provides plain white linens. We wanted something not so plain, but we did not want to spend a ton of money so we made table runners out of burlap. I was able to easily hem the edges on my grandmother’s sewing machine.

For my aunt’s wedding we wrapped the tables with craft paper.  The groom insisted that no linen was used and I refused to keep the old and beat tables bare. I used a runner to add color.

We have a very tight budget so I started researching prices of linens…yea they are crazy! So we are actually using “Better Than Linen-paper table cloths”. They are wonderful!! Look and feel of linen but fit great with our budget…paid less than $1/each. Im going to do colorful runners and flowers to add to the look!

@Barika:  That’s so fun! Is it like butcher block style paper in a big roll?
