I’d probably go for song titles just cos I’m not all that up to date with my 40’s music and I’d probably walk in and think “who’s Glenn?” (please forgive my ignorance! LOL) but a song title you can get something from even if you haven’t heard the song.

If you were going to do musicians I’d probably go for their full name.

I like the singer names, but I would use first and last, because I too can see some people not recognizing just the first name 🙂

As long as you include the name on the actual table, I think the musician names are great. But if it’s just a picture of the person, I’d be worried people won’t be able to find the right table.

I chose “Song titles for table names,” but now that I think about it, it’s kind of hard to date songs. It might not communicate the 40’s as well because so many of those great pop standards have been redone by people like Michael Buble and Harry Connick Jr. Movie or book titles might be easier to date back– or the full names of 40’s musicians. Or you could list things that were big in the 40’s or that were invented in the 40’s. I just entered “1940’s” in to Wikipedia, and other the Technology section, there are quite a few interesting 40’s inventions– like the slinky, velcro, or tupperware. But that could be confusing too because people might be like, “Is there supposed to be tupperware on my table?” … I think I’m going back to musicians’ names, first and last, for my final opinion. 😉

I like both of those ideas. What about using Romantic Movies from the 40’s?
