I’ve been trying to think of names for tables, in lieu of #s, that would fit with my wedding theme. Help please!!
About my wedding: Reception is taking place at the NJ Botanical gardens, inside an old castle. the theme is secret garden/enchanted forest, romantic, lace, vintage, etc
I’m attaching antique skeleton keys to the escort cards. and while i’m looking for an antique weathered finish to the cards, i’m still trying to decide on what the cards will look like.
There are tons of vintage/antique cards on ETSY, but i just can’t decide!I thought about using different images for each table, for example see attached image. I wanted to make the image the actual table name, but they’re all hand-stamped, so they cannot be enlarged.
Then i thought about naming each table by a different flower… thoughts?
Ugh, loosing sleep over all these details!

I like the flower names option. Use the flower meanings guide to choose flowers with love-related meanings. (Wouldn’t want a table to be symbolized by the flower of death or something!) Another option could be to do quotes as the table “numbers”. Then you could have a the quote printed on the tags as well. I have pasted below 8 love/garden themed quotes I found online as examples.
“A life without [love] is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.”
“A single rose can be my garden…a single friend, my world.”
Leo F. Buscaglia
“Love is like a beautiful flower which I may not touch, but whose fragrance makes the garden a place of delight just the same”
“To love is the great amulet that makes this world a garden”
Robert Louis Stevenson
“Love would never be a promise of a rose garden unless it is showered with light of faith, water of sincerity and air of passion.”
“Loving someone is like caring for a garden, love it too much or too little and it dies, but love it just right and it will live forever.”
“Where flowers bloom so does hope.” – Lady Bird Johnson
“It is at the edge of a petal that love waits.” – William Carlos Williams

For the antique-looking cards themselves, you could soak them in some tea, there are about a trillion tutorials for that out in Internetland. I love the way it looks!

Oooh I love that flower idea! The quotes and flower combination is so charming.
You could use different breeds of butterflies if that doesn’t work out. I’m sure you could find vintage looking clip art to accompany each table number.

The flower idea is nice. Or since it’s enchanted forest, you could do different types of trees.

I love this hand stamped sheet you found!! Where did you find it? Was this on Etsy too?
Another idea I saw online was for a Flower Garden Escort Card/Seating Display. You could create this same idea using different shapes of flowers to go with your idea of differnt table names by flower:
I’m also doing the vintage garden theme – our venue isounds similar to yours except it’s indoors. It’s a botanical/conservatory room with plants and chandeliers, floor to ceiling windows overlooking a garden (though it’s winter there will be some trees still green) and a rock formation with waterfall. It’s just beautiful (especially for being inside).
I found these gorgeous vintage flower charms last night at Michaels on clearance – I am planning to make napkin rings out of them by getting floral wire and tying each one around a split ring. Maybe they will help you, too. You can find them online – Making Memories Vintage Groove Charms:

All of my sisters tables were names of trees. That might work for your theme.
This was here escort board…
All the cards were put together like a puzzle to that looked like a tree.

I am doing the names of Jewels/ Stones:
I thought it was much better than table numbers. Id hate for someone to think they were thought of last and stuck at table number 20.

@crystalirene: I forgot that’s what I was originally going to do back when my first idea was just “jewel tone” but now it’s eveolved into jewel tone garden:) You make such a great point about not letting people think about the actual order of things when creating table #s!

I don’t know why my post didn’t show but I saw this book of postcards from Cicely Mary Barkers flower fairies of the trees. They would make perfect table cards in frames at 5X7″. There are different tree fairies with their description on the back.
They’d also be perfect to go with this Wedding Program that you can download free from Martha Stewart online. It says What Tree did you Fall From? with a picture of a beautiful tree with roses designed on front along with a list of birthdates by month (Like a horoscope/astrology chart). Then you open up the program and it tells you the meaning of your tree. Seems like a fun thing to keep your guests busy while they wait for thing and it’s Free:
