My wedding colour is mostly a rich red, with black and gold. We are doing a cocktail reception during the afternoon. The reception will be held in an historic old firestation that has been rehabbed to an event place. My problem is trying to figure out the linens for the few tables that we will have. Our venue only holds 75 max. and we will have only 5 cruiser tables. Three high top (taking 90" linens) and two low top (taking 120" linens). I am thinking of renting black linens for the tables. I was also planning on making table runners for these tables from gold silk taffeta. My centrepieces will be made of red flowers (orchids, dahlias, spider mums, etc).
My questions for the hive are:
1. Would gold table runners look good with black linens? Or would squares work better?
2. Any hints on how to make these (i.e., dimensions) for either runners or squares?
3. Should I scrapped the concept and just leave it simple with just black (or red) linens?
I would suggest going with red squares with black table cloths and black squares with red table cloths. I think that would look really hot. You actually gave me an idea for my table tops - using the squares that is.
I think that the gold would really set off the red flowers. It depends what look you are going for (runners vs. square) The square look might look more modern, while the runners would look more classic. I think your color choices are great!
I'm hoping the hive will be able to help me.

I know, I'm super indecisive. Thanks everyone!

Given that my centrepieces are going to be all red, I think it'll be black linens with gold squares.
Thanks!
