Firstly, don't assume anything in wedding planning. Call your venue or caterer and find out the table size.
If you use a 108" runner on a 60" table, the runner will hang over 24" on each side.
If you use a 108" runner on a 72" table the runner will hang over 18 " on each side.
The length of the runner overhang compared to the tablecloth depends on what size cloths you will use.

I've been debating on getting table runners for our reception. I finally found some that may work, but I'm unsure about the size.
The runners are 108 inches long. Our tables seat 8, and I'm assuming they are 60 inches (maybe 72 inches). Do you think 108 inches is too long? I googled and for a 60 inch round table the table cloth would need to be 120 inches to hit the floor...so since this is a runner, it should be shorter right?
Please help!
