I think I would do place cards if I were in your situation. If you did open seating some people would sit with one empty chair between them, and then someone would have to take up that single chair and probably get stuck next to people they don’t know all by themselves. With place cards you can at least control a little bit and try to sit people with their friends/family.

since you do have a guest list of 30, I would do place cards as well. It will add a personal touch and will make seating flow seamlessly.

If you think the guests might feel awkward finding seats especially if there’s people they may not know, then I think it would be a kind gesture to assign them a seat.

I’m having a small wedding as well about 25-30 people. We are doing round tables but ours are small and sits 5-6 so it’s perfect. I’m doing place cards only because I’ve been to a few weddings without and it’s super confusing. Even though it’s small people will sit wherever and some one will be mad because they are not by you or parents don’t get good seats etc. We are having 2 tables on one side of the room, us in the middle, and 2 more tables on the other side. Therefore everyone gets to see us ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck! Maybe we can bounce some ideas off of each other ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m having a hard time figuring out programs ๐Ÿ™
