In my personal opinion, something is tacky when it is in bad taste, not a personal taste for decorations.  Eg, there was something on here a few weeks back about a money jar for the honeymoon put at someones wedding (I believe this was in addition to expecting presents) Or there was the woman who abused a guest for supplying a $40 gift.  I know it’s not the definition, but that is what I see as tacky.  A quirky, individual, personal wedding is in the highest of taste if that is what you want to do.  I’m sure your guests will appreciate that and if not, well that is there problem.  You went to your cousins wedding that was “so formal” but did you still appreciate her wedding?

Checked out the pinterest board, looks great to me! Someone with an eye for colour might say different but to me it looked nice.

alerose:  BBQ and candy floss.. er can i come to your wedding!!! i love that, sadly i live in the uk the north to be precise and we get about 2 weeks of summer a year haha and i would have loved to have some sort of bbq but knowing my luck it would snow.

I say go for it, we are having a candy floss and a popcorn machine at our wedding!!! that’s the bit i’m most excited about.

My wedding is us themed, i have hearts and superheros dotted about polka dots all over and dinosaurs on my invites, and 1 person told me it would look tacky to which my response was “well it’s a good job it’s not your wedding” i know how my wedding is going to come together and i know it will look better than it sounds so you go with whatever feels right as long as you know it will look good.

I came to comment that you should read the article on Offbeatbride about how “tacky” is so cliche. I love your ideas and think it would be a blast! As long as you and your FI are happy on that day, you’ve met the biggest goal.

Any idea what (if any) favors you’ll do? I feel like you could have so much fun with this- big lollipops or cotton candy to take home?
