Ok. So, I am getting married in April. My wedding colors are pink and gold.. The gold I like is a very soft light gold (not a bam in your face metallic gold). Would it be tacky to have a silver cake knife and server? All the gold cake knives and servers I find look so aged. Also Future Mother-In-Law think I should have gold silverware too, b/c our plates our ivory trimmed in gold, but I think gold silverware will look tacky.. Please let me hear some thoughts!!

Yes, because everything and anything is tacky to someone somewhere.
But seriously, we have beat a dead horse about the use of the word “tacky” on WB here. I see you’re new so you may have missed that. Just sayin’.
More importantly… Welcome! I love pink and gold together! They are my accent colors with navy blue. I wouldn’t worry about it. I don’t think everything has to be matchy matchy. I think silver would be fine, but you could always try to find a two tone set to sort of split the difference if it is really bothering you (or your FMIL).

i think those are really small details that only you (and apparently your fmil) will notice. it will look fine with silver!

I agree with artbee. Most people do not notice things like that. If you like them then go for it.

If the silver serving set is what you want to use, I think it would look fine. Honestly, I wouldn’t notice that it didn’t fit into your wedding color scheme. Infact, I really like the picture that Amaryllis posted. It looks quite nice.
As far as using the word tacky goes, go ahead and use it. Like Amaryllis said, there have been many posts on using the word and they all drive me nuts. Seriously, there are many things we should feel bad about and not say, but the word tacky??? If the posters of weddingbee are going to get their panties in a ruffle because someone of someone that uses the word tacky, then that’s the day I say adios weddingbee.

Thanks for the advice! I will have to remember that “tacky” is a no no on WB. hehe.
