So my wedding is going to be Tea Party themed. And I want my three Bridesmaids to wear 3 different color/pattern dresses. One of my bridesmaids is going to buy a dress I told them I had really liked (she likes it as well). It’s a floral pattern.
Now one of my other Bridesmaids, we had went to the mall, and she had bought a dress for a Tea Party get together we had to discuss my wedding. It fits her perfectly and she loves it, (and it was like only $5 she paid for it!)
Would it be tacky if I told her she could just wear that one (if she was okay with that?) It would work, she already bought it, and it was only like $5. And she’s the type who is very uncaring about fashion or new clothes, so I don’t think she’d have problem with that.
What do you think?

@raziel1687: Why on earth would you think that would be tacky? That would be a kind and unselfish act on your part to suggest she wears a dress she already owns.

That’s a lovely gesture. If she’s not comfortable with it, I’m sure she’ll say something — but I bet she’ll be delighted to be able to wear something she already owns and likes.

I think that would be an awesome idea. I WISH I could have done that for a friends wedding recently, instead I had to spend $200 on a dress ill never wear again

@raziel1687: I’m trying to work out what the problem is. It’s a lovely idea, do it!

If your bridesmaid has something in her closet already that fits with the look you’re going for, what’s the issue? Unless for some reason she’s dead set on buying another dress for your wedding, she’ll probably love that you’re okay with her wearing something she already owns. Not tacky at all!
Unless I’m totally misunderstanding your post…

Because I had told my Mother In Law she should wear the dress she had worn to her daughter’s graduation for my wedding and she thought it was a terrible idea! 🙁 But it would have been perfect for a “Tea Party” theme and it’s also one of my wedding colors! But she’s the type who always has to buy something new for every occasion….
