As you may know or might not… we are having an Addams Family themed wedding.
We are trying to balance Gothic Glam, Dark Romance and Elegant Hallowen.
This a pic of wall decor stickers based off Tim Burtons – Nightmare Before Christmas…
They are awesome… but are they tacky?
I am looking for some wall decorations to spice up the plain white walls of our reception. Its a huge space, but has low ceilings.
Would drapping work? But even DIY it will cost an arm and a leg and then I will have a house full of fabric/curtains..
I also like this pic I found with cardboard butterflies stuck up along the walls. I would use a bat shape instead.
Am I on the right track? Is this tacky or if done well can it work?
Any ideas, tips & tricks, opinions, advice, other pics and links are welcome.

The decals are a bit childrens birthday party like for me.
I like the butterflies and the draping ideas. But seriously no one but the bride really cares about the decor of the venue. Guests will be more interested in the food and drinks and celebrating the couple.

I really like them.. but as someone who LOVES tim burton & the nightmare before christmas, it would be super confusing to have it on the walls for an addams family themed wedding.

@jenilynevette: I thought that too. Do you have any suggestions?

I’m not into the wall decals but I like the draping and butterflies!

I like them. Maybe you can do the decals for a shower or engagement party and then the bats for the wedding? The decals are fine, but I think the bats are more elegant and beautiful for a wedding.

I think the draping is best. Then you add little hints everywhere like the paper bats, black calia lillies, black macaroons for dessert or favours etc. I reckon that when having a theme like this for a wedding the subtle approach is better if you don’t want it to head into costume/children’s party territory. Lots of small things that when combined clear state the theme but are not overpowering.
I think these napkins/plates are pretty cool. Maybe you could find something like this?
And you have to serve these. It is called a smoking zombie

Drapping, bats and try so well placed accent lights. I work at a resort and accent lights in many colors can change the atmosphere from elegant to eerie to fun party to dance club!!!

@laura.batty: Tell me about it. We are finally getting air con installed on Wednesday. These rolling heat waves are killing me.
I am having a frozen margarita as we speak and waiting for the pizza to arrive. I haven’t cooked a meal for days. Probably why I was so drawn to the smoking zombie.

I found this decal on Etsy, I was thinking this might be cool as the photo booth background.
I am soo jealous over your pizza and frozen margarita! I am having a coke and we just had silverside and salad for dinner.

@laura.batty: Decal thing isn’t loading for me but the butterfly thing is beautiful!!

I think the wall stickers are too children’s party and nowhere near as elegant as the other things you’ve posted – like your gorgeous dress! I think draping would be best for gothic elegance, but I also like the butterflies and skull.
