@cantonbride:  I’m confused.  What would you do with your current ring?

@cantonbride:

I haven’t seen your ring, but generally, the designer should be able to switch out the part of the ring that holds the center diamond. You shouldn’t have to switch to a new ring to have the change you’re seeking. For the record, my favorite look is a round diamond in a setting where the prongs make it look almost square. 🙂

Could you just have tacori alter the prongs in the setting you already have? That’sprobably what I would do instead of buying a whole new setting. Can you post a picture of what you have now and what you want? I know I can help best when I can visualize.

@cantonbride:  hmm they look very similar. Maybe they can make the prongs less pronounced like someone else said.

I think it might depend how long you’ve had it.  I would think there might be some exchange/return policy on the setting, but would likely still have to pay for the service of having the stone reset on top of the extra cost of the ring.

I think I actually have the same ring as #2 but it actually is a princess cut, so no mistaking it.  If you’ve had it for a while, I think you’d pretty much have to sell the ring as used (at a loss) and buy a new ring, or see if they can just make changes to the head of the setting to make it a little less pronounced.

I know, based on seeing the pic and the amount of metal, they can rework the prongs. However, they cannot add the basket without swapping out the head or possibly making a new ring. BUT if you only want the prongs redone, that can totally be done. I’d take it back to the jeweler where you got it and present them with your dislike. They will understand. Sometabout it takes a person a while to decide what they do/do not like (or we just change!).  Best of luck to you 🙂

My understanding is that Tacori will not do custom work on a ring that has already been manufactured, but you may want to inquire about this again. I also know that they have in the past put the head of one ring on the shank of another, but the custom cost was reeeeally expensive (think 50% markup, and a CAD was sent to the customer before fabrication..

They do have a trade in policy as long as your warranty has not been voided. They will offer 75% of the retail cost (and you will have paid their MSRP if you have a valid warranty) for a trade in. They’ll put the 75% toward the cost of whichever new Tacori setting you choose for the lifetime of your ring.

EDIT: to clarify another poster, you should NOT be charged a setting fee to reset your stone from one Tacori to another. Depending on your Tacori partner, you may or may not be charged to ship the ring to California.

@FutureMrs.Wood:  Bench jewelers shouldn’t work on Tacoris as that will void the warranty, unless they are a Tacori partner and have the company’s express consent to make whatever modification to that specific setting (as is the case for many Canadian retailers due to border trouble).

@letigre:  Right, I agree. She should have her jeweler send it back to Tacori to rework the prongs (not her jeweler). I really don’t see Tacori having an issue with reworking the prongs; they would just be removing excess metal.

@cantonbride:  My dear friend has the setting you have with the pointy prongs! It’s beautiful. People often think her diamont is a princess Cut too.

I would think Tacori could make changes for you Rather than switch the whole setting.
