I have been lurking for a couple of weeks decided to jump in and get some GREAT bee advice. So here goes–> I went dress shopping last weekend with the hopes of finding the below dress in tulle, but the store only had the(shimmer) taffeta version of it. So I decided the next best thing would be to try the taffeta on to see if this style would even look flattering.
When I tried the taffeta on, everyone in the salon thought I looked GREAT in it, and I had a little tearful moment in it as well. Now several days later I am wondering should I purchase the taffeta one I tried on, or (either keep searching for the tulle sample to try on or order the tulle (site unseen) instead? The tulle was my original dream dress. Any thoughts?
Any thing I am not considering tulle vs taffeta. Photos, weather etc?
Helpful info: Having outdoor garden wedding in august, 4pm ceremony. Indoor reception. Will be ordering the dress in white. Wedding date aug 7 2010.
In case pics don’t post here are the links:

The link that you’ve provided is wonky some how, so I can only see it in Taffeta. I will say that tafetta sometimes photographs shinier than you might want, so if you have a picture of you in it in the store, that may be helpful as well.
If I know the dress name, I could probably find the tulle link.

Is the tulle the one in the smaller photo? For me personally, I found that I didn’t like the weight of taffeta. I felt like it was really heavy and not breathable. I would prefer taffeta because I think it has more flow and movement. Also, I think Mrs. DG makes a good point on taffeta photographing a little shiny.

You bees are awesome!! Thanks for the quick responses. I added a better pic of the tulle dress in the link..it wouldn’t show up in the post though.
@Mrs. DG–> You are right about the shimmer taffeta possibly photography more shinier than I would anticipate. This is something I am concerned about.
The tulle dress is Mori Lee 2415, Taffeta is 2401.

I love love love the tulle dress, but I think it’s more my style than the taffeta one…I am not a fan of lots of fancy beading or anything so I always go for simpler styles. Plus, I hear tulle is majorly back in for wedding dresses (not that that matters, as I think dresses are usually pretty timeless…but you know what I mean!). 🙂 Gorgeous dresses either way!

Taffeta is hot. I would go with tulle for that reason. Although I love taffeta.
Very pretty dress.

I love the tulle dress! I fell in love with that dress after I already bought mine!

I love them both but in August taffeta will be very hot. My dress is taffeta, which is a plus because it will be 20 degrees outside.

Hi there! I’ve tried on the taffeta dress you are looking at. I LOVED IT. Like……. I freaking LOVED it, and I also am not a fan of tons of beading. I loved the bow detail in the back, and the waistline, I just loved everything about it.
And fyi, just for the other posters, the “taffeta” on this dress is not the stiff silk taffeta you usually see. It is another type of taffeta that is VERY lightweight– almost like parachute silk, if that makes sense? It reminds me of the material that warm-up pants are made of…. not sure if that rings a bell for any of yall.
Even though I love #2, I vote for #1, because I’ve seen it on and I KNOW pictures don’t do it justice!

omg, im torn btw these 2 dresses too :s but i think i like tulle better! can i ask sth, how long does it take for the bridals tore to get a mori lee gown, like avg time? coz i need my dress in 2 months?

Have you tried on any other Mori Lee dresses in the same kind of tulle? That might help narrow down your decision if you can’t find the exact dress to try on. Different brands use different kids of tulle – some are soft while others are stiffer and can be a bit scratchy.

I personally don’t like Taffeta so the tulle wins by default, its hard to decide because both are beautiful and make such a great statement. Good luck on selecting a dress!!!!
