Just got back from Colorado and I'm engaged!!!
BF and I had looked a rings a few weeks earlier and he said he would wait to do it "somewhere special," so I was 99% sure it would be during our trip to Colorado, but didn't know what he had planned.
BF was in Colorado for a work trip and I met him out there on Friday. We stayed with my aunt in Denver that night and then drove up to Vail on Saturday. He said he had dinner plans, but wouldn't tell me where it would be. He just said that we would be outside for a little while, so I needed to dress warmly. We drove about 30 minutes out of Vail and finally made it to our destination...a cute little cabin where there was a horse-drawn sleigh waiting for us! At first, I thought he was going to pop the question while we were on the sleigh, but then I realized it wasn't quite the right time with the driver there. So I settled down and enjoyed the ride, thinking it would happen by the fire once we got back from the ride.
We were almost back to the cabin when the driver started telling us about the cabin and how it was built by settlers in the early 1900s and the Squaw Indians who lived on the land before them. He was pointing out some tepees on the property as we were riding past them and I said, "I can't imagine living out in a tepee in this COLD weather!" The driver stopped the sleigh then and said that it was actually pretty warm in there and suggested that we get out and go "take a look." We walked up to the tepee and inside it was lit up with fairy lights and there was a fire and candles and a bottle of champagne waiting! BF said that I am the love of his life and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said YES and we shared a glass of bubbly before making our way back to the sleigh and then back to the cabin where we had a great dinner.
Even though I "knew" it was coming, I was still surprised and impressed with FI's planning! So happy to start planning my wedding to the man of my dreams!
Here is my beautiful emerald-cut engagement ring! And for those wondering (like I always am!), it is a 1.03 carat G color, VVS2, very good cut, emerald cut stone from James Allen!
