I was not expecting this to happen so soon. I can not wipe the smile off my face!
FH totally caught me by surprise when he popped the question yesterday. He told me he wanted to go and check out the condition of the sea down at Katiki Point where he planned on going diving/spearfishing the next morning, this isn’t at all unusual so I had no idea what he had planned.
Katiki Point is a peninsula near Moeraki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moeraki) it is a wildlife reserve and there are always lots of seals and yellow eyed penguins there (http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-visit/otago/coastal-otago/katiki-point/). There is also a gorgeous historical lighthouse (http://www.maritimenz.govt.nz/Commercial/Shipping-safety/Aids-to-navigation/Lighthouses-of-NZ/Katiki-point-lighthouse.asp). It is a really beautiful place.
We arrived just as the sun was beginning to set and the sea was really rough so the waves were crashing loudly around us. We walked past the lighthouse and headed down the peninsula, as we were walking along the top of a small hill FH ran ahead of me, he found a spot on the ground that was free of penguin poop, got down on one knee, reached into his pocket, pulled out the ring box and asked me to marry him. I said yes and he put the ring on my finger. I could not stop smiling as we walked along the rest of the peninsula and I haven’t stopped smiling since. I am the luckiest girl in the whole world.
Now for some pics..
This is the spot where he proposed, you can see the lighthouse on the far right.
This is us right after he proposed. My eyes are a little red from crying.
and here is my beautiful ring. 1.24 carat Morganite centre stone with 0.14 TCW of diamonds on either side set in white gold.
Here you can see how much it sparkles
and here are the seals that were looking on. There were dozens of them, I’ve never seen so many in one place.
On our walk back this cheeky wee guy was lying right on the path so we got to get pretty close to him.
and lastly, here is one of the yellow eyed penguins, these guys are the cutest wee things.
Sorry about the crazy big photos.
