So…. He proposed last night! After waiting and waiting and moping about, he proposed last night and it was perfect.
He asked if I wanted to play the PS3, as we’d just bought two new pinball tables and the Lego Movie. He asked if I’d be his player 2.
I didn’t realize what was happening, and I said, “I’m already your player 2.”
He said, “No, in life, people need someone to fight with them, to stand by their side and be their player 2, and I want you to be that for me. I want you to be my player 2 for the rest of my life.”
He took his mother’s ring off my hand and put on our engagement ring, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
I was so happy, I rolled my eyes and said, “Hmmmm I guess,” and then when I looked at him I couldn’t keep it together anymore, I said yes, and grabbed him and held him for what must have been 15 minutes.
After crying and professing my undying love for him, I asked him why he made me wait so long.
He said that Saturday had been the day that his father had died, March 22nd and that was a day of tragedy for him, his last parent dying. He wanted to make the next day a day of joy and celebration and our engement and that’s why I had to wait. It was something he had to to.
I said thank you for letting me know, and I apologized for all the stress. He said he felt horrible for making me feel that way, but it was important to him that our engagement anniversary fall on a new, special day.
It was perfect, totally us. He had been planning this big lavish proposal, but was calmed when I’d told him that I don’t need anything over the top. That I just needed him to ask the question.
Thanks for all your help ladies. He wasn’t great at stalling, but after everything, I’m glad he did.
