Hi there!! I know it’s been a few days since, but I’ve just been so busy that I haven’t had time to sit down and write about my Christmas!!
Well, I now have a fiancé!!!!!!! And boy is it weird to say that! It happed on Christmas day, when we were over at his sisters house for an early dinner. His whole family was there and we were opening presents when someone knocked on the door. In walks my best friend!!! She was the last person I expected to walk through that door! She was in town from San Diego for the Holiday and she told me that my Fiance invited her because she had to leave the next day and he knew we’d want to see each other–I totally bought it!
Well, in the days leading up to Christmas, my Fiance had been working on a slide show of family pictures that he’s been scanning into the computer. He told me he wanted to show the slide show at Christmas because he thought his family would like it. So when my friend got there, he had us all go into the living room so he could show us his pictures. His slide show was about 5 minutes long and when it ended, we all went to get up and he said, “Hold on! I have one more thing I’d like to show!” Turns out, the family picture slide show was just a guise for the REAL slide show, which were pictures of our last three years together and the progression of our relationship. The first picture had the title “It’s the final countdown!” because “Final Countdown” by Europe has significant meaning to us.
So, he starts playing our song, and is going through the slide show of our pictures giving a little bit of narrative for each picture and the last picture of the slide show was a picture I took of Fiance when we backpacked Europe two years ago. It was a picture of him diving off a boat we chartered around the Greek islands and he said, “Myname, I’m ready to take the plunge with you and spend the rest of our lives together. I love you, will you marry me?”
Of course, I started crying and forgot to say yes! It wasn’t until his sister’s husband said, “She didn’t say yes!” that I sobbed “YES!” The whole family was crying, everyone was so happy for us!
All the while, my friend was snapping pictures, which I am TOTALLY grateful for because she captured our special moment!
I am VERY VERY excited and can’t stop looking at the ring! It all seems so surreal, but it feels great to finally feel so official. I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and I can’t believe that this is my reality! I feel so blessed, and these past few days have been such an emotional high that I am literally exhausted! My body feels tired, but I am flying high!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and spend it with the people you love! Aside from the proposal, Christmas in general was wonderful!
I look forward to the help of you ladies with my planning! Happy New Year!
Sorry my ring pictures aren’t real special, I have been so busy, these are the ones my friend took!
