I take my e-ring off all the time. In fact, it's not on right now. I take it off to go to bed, wash my hands, get in the shower or when I am cooking. Is that weird? My mom hasn't taken hers off in ages and noted that it's weird that I remove mine so much.

Am I alone? Or are other ladies taking theirs off from time to time as well?

I take mine off all the time...and then I forget to put it back on a lot of the time before work/etc.  It's not just you!

It's definitely not just you! I pretty much only wear mine in public.  It has a really high setting, and I am always hitting it on stuff.  I usually take it off as soon as I get home, and don't put it on again until I leave.

I take mine off a lot too.  I really only put it on if I am leaving the house...

When I first got mine I did that, mostly because the middle stone is pear shaped and was scared it would get caught on something. I started wearing it more only because I almost lost the ring twice.

I agree. I only wear mine out in public. When I'm at home, it comes off. I don't wear it to the gym or to work either (but only because I work with clay and acrylic and glass paints and its a PAIN to clean it every day!) so you are not alone!

I take it off lots too, gardening, dishes, shower, etc.

I used to take it off when I went to bed, but not so much anymore.

I took mine off all the time at first but I decided that I have insurance for a reason and I'm wearing mine all the time now. I haven't taken it off in a few days with the exception of moving it around to put on lotion and dry underneath it.

My fiance gets upset because I take mine off all the time, too!  My mom bought me a million of those little ring holders (the thing that looks like a finger sticking up in the middle of a little crystal tray haha) to put all over the house because everyone is afraid I'll lose it!  I couldn't even THINK of putting my ring in like, hamburger or something while I'm cooking...it makes me throw up.  I wear it the rest of the time...just not when I'm doing something yucky.

I almost never take any of my jewelry off.  I wear 2 rings, a necklace and a pair of diamond studs.  FI thought it was weird, so when he gave me the ring, he said I would have to take it off when I shower.  His mom takes her rings off all the time, but my mom never does.

My biggest issue is that I would always forget to put it back on, and then I'd feel naked going out of the house.

I take my ring off for all those same events, except I do wear it to bed (and depending on what I'm cooking, maybe the too). Early on I left it in a publc washroom at work for a couple minutes before realizing it. Thank god it wasn't out in PUBLIC public, or that may have been the end of my ring :(

I'm the same as a lot of PPs and pretty much only wear it in public. I put it in its ring box by my bed when it's not on (too scared to put the ring box in the bathroom for fear of a freak accident involving the toilet or drain! lol).

I take mine off a lot. I might take it off less if it were more snug, but it is about a half size too large.

I LOVE my ring and don't want anything to ruin it. So, I take it off when cleaning or doing anything that will get it too dirty.

Also, I take it off at night. My fingers tend to swell at night and it's uncomfortable. I have the box the ring came in and I put it in there whenever I'm not wearing it.

Ugh I feel SOOO much better about this :) I almost never have on my ring. I take it off for everything (just like I'd do for any ring or jewelry) and forget to put it on. Sometimes I just forgo wearing it if it'd complicate my day: like if I'm going shopping and know I'll be pulling shirts on and off all day or if I'll be driving long distances.

@canadianbacon: I take mine off when I go to bed, do the dishes, cook messy things, take a shower, or do housework when I'm messing with harsh chemicals. I treat my ering just like any other piece of jewelery. I don't put my pearls on to clean the house, so why should m e-ring be any different?

I feel naked if I don't wear earrings and my e-ring in public, but the minute I walk in the house, they come off. I also don't wear the ring to the gym, the beach, when cleaning, cooking or sleeping. I'm too afraid of losing or damaging something I cherish so much!

@canadianbacon: Neither of us wear our rings at home at all.  We have a dish that we put them in pretty much as soon as we walk through the door.

I take off all my jewelry for bed and I don't put them back on until after I've showered the next morning. I also try to take my ring off when I put on hand creme, wash my hands or clean, but I don't always remember to. You're not weird at all.

Soaps, lotions, the grease from cooking, ect can damage jewelery. Not taking off your jewelry ever is actually bad for it, and can be bad for you aswell.

I take mine off all the time.  Basically the only time I wear it is if I'm out of the house or if there are people over.  Rings kind of annoy me.  I get really distracted by them and spin them and take them on and off all the time when I wear them.

I have a high setting, also.  I always feel like I'm bumping things at home with it and I'm going to scratch something.  I take it off when I sleep & when I shower.

You're not alone at all.  I'm not a jewelry person and so it took me some time to adjust to wearing the ring.  Even still I take it off a lot.  I can't wear it when I sleep anymore before I am a restless sleeper and ended up hurting both my FI and myself with it on multiple occasions.  When I am home I usually take it off and put it away because I kept getting it caught in my hair.  I actually decided that I am not going to wear my e-ring after the wedding because its just too high and gets caught on things too much.  So instead I'm just going to wear a band after the wedding.

I'm still getting used to wearing it as I don't wear any other jewelry and never have. I take it off when I shower or go to the gym, FH agreed that he doesn't want me to lose the ring down the drain or lose a finger on the rock wall. I've been forgetting to put it back on, but usually remember once I'm in the car with my hands on the steering wheel. I figure that in time, it'll become second nature to put it back on.

The other day my cat scratched my ring finger and that's when I noticed I hadn't had my ring on, but I couldn't put it back on with the band aid. :( dumb cat

I feel SO much better! I always put my ring in the same place when I take it off (usually) and, like many of you, I am taking it off as part of getting undressed/getting home from work and putting it on as part of getting ready to leave. I thought I was totally weird.

I love my ring and I really don't want anything to happen to it. I cook every night and would be totally grossed out to end up with raw chicken juices or potato starch around the stone.

You are not weird at all! I take mine off for showering, cooking, putting on lotion, etc! I have alot of grooves in my ring, and don't want them to get dirty! I also will not wear my ring to work some days, if I don't know where I will be that day (some places I work do not allow you to have rings on) and I don't want to lose it!

I take my rings off if I am getting in the shower, cooking something messy, or putting lotion on. DH never takes his off, though.

I don't think it's weird to take it off. It's better for the ring in the long run.

I take mine off when I wash the dishes, take a shower and whenever I put lotion on. I get paranoid of knocking out my diamond out of its setting or having lotion gunk getting into the setting. When we first got engaged, I took it off in my sleep and freaked out when I woke up and it wasn't on my finger and somewhere in the bed. Luckily that never happened again!

I take mine off too.  I recently started sleeping with it, cause I am more used to it, but sometimes when my body is achy I take it off.  I also take it off cooking, especially raw meat (gross germs) and in the long run I think it is better for your jewelery not to gunk it up with soap and lotions etc...

This makes me feel so much better.  I take my ring off all the time and I usually forget to put it back on but there are times when it just does not make sense to me to wear it.  My mother and my FMIL give me so much grief about it and I was feeling very guilty about it until reading this and seeing I am not alone!

Mine is off 4 days out of week (when I am at work) + doing dishes, cleaning, cooking + when we travel.

Some of my friends opt out o just wear their wedding bands majority of the time as well.  It is just up to you and your lifestyle.

I wear mine  all the time, except when I shower, and do dishes, or am doing a dirty job or hobby, like helping FI in the yard, or painting, or anything like that. (which isn't alot, because it's not my job, haha.) Depending on what I am cooking I will take it off, but not usually. The only reason I take it off to do dishes, or shower is because I am afaid of losing it down the drain, because we have a plug in our bathtub/shower, and I am afrid it I let the sink drain the ring will go down the drain, and I wouldn't of realized it came off.

Plus it bothers me FI, if it is off for any other reason, which isn't a problem, because I don't take it off for any other reason.

I rarely took mine off until... we went sledding just after Christmas and I took it off before I put my gloves on. My FI and I were horsing around and I accidentally jammed my finger into the heel of his boot. My knuckle has been swollen ever since and I can't get my ring back on!!! It's driving me CRAZY! Once I get it back on, I'm pretty sure I won't be taking it off for a long time!

i'm with the off crowd. I take my ring off at night and when washing hands, applying lotion, or doing yucky things like washing dishes. For a while, sometimes I would forget to put it on after my shower in the morning, but that's pretty rare these days.

i hardly take mine off. i wear gloves when i clean so i don't get chemicals on my hands and i wear it when i sleep. i take it off to clean in my jewelry cleaner but that is about it. i guess i dont see a reason to take it off. its a part of me and i love to wear it so i wear it all the time. kind of like it's a habit to take it off for some people, it's a habit to wear mine all the time. to each his own.......

I just got mine sized, so it fits so much better and now I never take it off! Before I took it off to clean, work, shower, sleep....but it fits like a glove now, so it's always on!

Mine comes off for bed and then I put it back on after my shower. I don't want to poke my eye out when I sleep or weaken the prongs, and the open setting would collect shampoo and kill the sparkle quickly. I also take it off for dishes and cleaning, but I try to always have it on when I leave the house.
