My parents wanted me to keep the money and finish the renos on the hosue. we are having a small wedding and keeping a little more than 20% of what they gave us.
The DH & I had a small DW wedding in Aruba to save money and it was a blast!! If your looking to buy a house I suggest saving some of the money for your down payment.
Honestly, for me it would depend on how much they're offering.
I'm 29 and have been working for 7 years, doing well enough.
$10-20k extra in the bank won't change my life - I'd take the wedding. We have been saving for a down payment for years and will be able to get in a house in the next year regardless.
A six figure budget might be another story.
My dad asked us the same question (money and elope or wedding) and we chose wedding. We realized we want our friends and family to be part of it. It it were an option I would go with a smaller party and put the rest towards the house (or student loans in our case).

what would you do? take the money your parent's would give you for the wedding and put it towards a house, or have a wedding and have a blast that you've dreamed about...even if it is just a day...
