I work in an office where most people bring in cake or snacks of some description on their birthdays.
im torn on this; I hate the attention of spreading around a ‘Its my birthday, cake in the tea room’ type email, but I love to bake and frankly I’m a pretty good home cook and like to impress. Anyway, my birthday is coming up and I’m thinking about what to do…
So what type of food to take in? Cake/cupcakes/cookies/something Savoury?

i never bring anything in for myself but i usually bake cakes for people at work for their birthdays. otherwise i frequenlty, almost weekly honestly, bring in baked goods to work. my co-workers love and hate me at the same time.
if you wanted to bring something, i’d say do cookies or cupcakes if isn’t convenient or easy to cut a cake.

I say cupcakes easy and portable. I am biased towards red velvet with cream cheese but any flavor that you know will be well recieved

@Contented_J: Bring in the cake/cupcake or cookies really whatever you want to make as its you being nice to the co-workers.
If you don’t want to send the “its my birthday” then just let them know that you were in the baking mood and have left goodies in the kitchen 🙂

I’d never bring anything in for myself. I work in a small office, so we always do lunch and cake for people’s birthdays and our office manager organizes it.

Thanks all, I think I might go with cupcakes. And maybe just a ‘treats in the kitchen email, no need for mention I’m getting old!
I will need to bake the night before. I’m thinking a mix of chocolate cupcakes and something more fruity/less rich.
