I always take my ring off when I wash my hands, put lotion on my hands, do the dishes, do any cleaning with chemicals around the house, or take a shower. I know I don’t have to, but for years I wore a pearl ring every day and got in the habit of taking it off since pearls aren’t supposed to be exposed to water that much. When I went to pick up my ring from sizing, I was talking to the lady at the jewelry store, and she said I should take my ring off when I’m sleeping too. This just seems like too much to me. I’m scared I’ll take it off when I’m super sleepy one night and forget where I put it. What do you bees think?

I always take my ring off at night. I keep it on top of my jewlery box so I know where it is right away when I wake up.

I do. But I’m a paranoid freak. We have an iron headboard and I’d hate to bang it in my sleep by accident. One time, I even woke without it! It somehow came off and was under my pillow! Phew…I put it back in it’s box every night and say “nighty night”. (LOL, just kidding about the nighty nite).
Do you still have your ring box? Make a habit of putting it in there even an hour before bed in case you get too sleepy later.

Get into a habit of putting it in a ring dish or a special place so there really is only one place you could have put it!
I rarely wear my ring-no excercise, no sleeping, showering, working with chemicals , etc
so I just made a spot for it (ring box) and now I always know where it is and I always gravitate towards it to put it away when I know Im going to do something dangerous for my ring.

I know some bee’s do take their’s off when they sleep. I don’t though. I do however take it off when I clean with chemicals & when I cook. I use to take it off when I bathed but I don’t anymore. I DO when I shower though, don’t want my ering & wedding band going down the drain! lol
Do whatever makes you comfortable. 🙂

I take off my ring to do dishes, but it stays on for showers and I definitely try to remember to put it back on before I go to sleep.

I always take mine off at night. I put it in the ring box that it came in on my nightstand.

@Eva Peron: i have the same habits as you – basically, if i’m in my house or doing some kind of activity my ring is off. it always goes in the same spot, and i always know where to find it
i worry about sleeping with it because its so easy for the prongs to catch on a sheet or pajama and get twisted

I take my ring off every night. And if I’m home during the day I usually don’t wear it. I’m a stay at home mom so I’m constantly changing diapers, dishes, even just playing with my daughter I’m scared I might chip it or something. So I usually only wear it when I go out of the house. And I never shower or sleep with it on.

Generally, when I am at home, my ring is in it’s box. This way, I don’t have to worry about setting it on a ledge when washing my hands or cooking. I put it in the same spot every time. I don’t need to wear it at home unless people are coming over.

I always sleep in my rings, because without coffee (which I don’t drink until I get to work) I can’t function and if I take them off I always forget to put them back on in the morning until I’m in the car. I’ve tried putting them in a little dish next to my bed, but after my cat knocked it over once too many I had to give that idea up. Now when my rings ‘rest’ (while I cook messy things, clean, do dishes and now laundry since I’m a klutz) they’re in a candle holder I have in my kitchen OR on the shelf above my bathroom sink so I always know right where they are…but if I don’t physically stare at them in the morning forget it, they’re staying there until I get home!

I take my ring off everynight before getting ready for bed, and it doesn’t go back on until after I take a shower the next morning. I have a ring dish on my nightstand. I just cant sleep with it on. I tend to curl up and put my hands under my cheek, and the ring gets in the way.
I do leave mine on otherwise all the time (with the exception of excersing). Which my jeweler says she would rather not have me do since washing the dishes, etc with it on wears off the rhodium plating rather quickly… Oh Well, replating is only $30, and I tend to lose things when I set them around the house.

I have a ring holder on my bathroom counter and every night that’s where the ring, earrings, and other jewelry sleeps. I take my ring off to wash my hands, put lotion on, do cleaning, but I do leave it on in the gym. It’s extra sparkly in there! I also take it off to sleep. Typically, once I’m getting the little one bathed and into bed, the ring comes off and stays off till the next morning unless I’m going out afterward.

I never ever take my ring off, but I need to get in the habit of taking it off.

I don’t take it off when I sleep but hubby does. I’m too paranoid for that. I only take mine off for dishes and shower.
Funny semi-related ring story :
THe other day I was doing dishes and took it off and put it on the table. A few hours later I rememberd I’d left it there and went to get it but couldn’t find it. I became suspicious of Mr. Merenguito because I’m always giving him a hard time of leaving his ring lying around the house so I thought he’d taken it to teach me a lesson. I looked ALL over the apartment , even INSIDE the coffee maker. I started crying because I couldn’t find it and started telling hubs to give it back and stop joking around. He swore he didn;t have it. After my crying fit he got up to help me find it. I went to look in the bathroom and he went to look in the kitchen. He called me over and pointed to the coffee grinder (that as right beside the coffee maker) and there it was on top. I got angry at him and told him that he’d put it there when I went to the bathroom cause it wasn;t there when I checked inside the coffee maker. To this day he gets REALLY angry/annoyed when I suggest he had taken it and put it there and to this day I don’t believe it was there the whole time! I’m NOT crazy !
