I was just wondering how many days off before your wedding did you take off from work? I know some people take the whole week off of their wedding and then the week after for their honeymoon. I kinda wish I did take this whole week off now! Just to relax the week before. But Im taking one day before, the week after and a few days after we get back from the honeymoon to change my name and stuff before going back to work.

How many days did you take off from work?

Im taking the week before Monday through to Friday (wedding saturday) FH taking 3 days before off simply because some guests are arriving and need to pick them up for the airport, finalise a few things that kinda thing and then were having 10 days in total off after the wedding :)

I'm taking 3 days off beforehand and a week afterwards. I'm at a new job so I didn't want to take a whole heap of time off and seeing as we're not heading off on our honeymoon until December school holidays I don't really have the honeymoon excuse! I was originally planning on taking 2 days off before the wedding and 2 days off afterwards but another teacher at school is getting married soon and she's taking 3 days off before and 11 after so I don't feel so bad extending it now!

RIght now, I'm just taking the day before, but I might end up taking two days before, but mainly because I'm taking a week and a half after!  Don't want to eat up all my vacation time!

I took Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off. The wedding was SAturday. I've had friends take a week though, but if you plan it out well, you shouldn't have to take TOO much vacation. I only had 11 days and I wanted ALL of it for my honeymoon =]

I'm doing the week before and the week after - but I'm going back to my hometown for the wedding - so the bridal shower, bachelorette, and couple's party is all happening in the week leading up to the wedding - so I have no choice but to do that. If you're staying in the same city, it's probably not as dire.

But if you can manage get more time off, I'm sure it'll make the week feel more relaxed - you'll want to see people who are coming to town for you, and last minute things will crop up.

Hey, almost date-twin.  I'm taking three days before and none after.  I'm with you... I kinda wish I'd asked for more!

I'm taking the 9th (wedding is the 11th) to the 27th and absolutely can't wait.  What sucks tho is I can't take any time off from here to then, but I do get to work from home sometimes so that helps!

I'm not too sure yet. My boss is always generous about taking time off and I don't really have a set number of "days off per year" or anything. The limiting factor will definitely be my FI's job. Also, we're going to have to put our honeymoon off 1 week because of FI's job. So i'm thinking maybe like 2 days before the wedding + monday after the wedding, then the week of the honeymoon + 1 or 2 more days

I'll probably take Thursday and Friday off before, and Monday after if we don't leave for our HM right away, or at least a week off after if we do HM right away.

I have to take 2 weeks off together for work... so I took the week of the wedding off and the week after for the honeymoon :)  I'm waiting to see how much time I have left, because I may take that following Monday after the honeymoon to change my name and get everything in order.

I took the week before and after our wedding off.  We actually got home from our honeymoon on a Sunday and had to work the next day...I wouldn't recommend doing that, though!

The week before I'm taking a half day wednesday, then thursday and friday, and the whole next week. I've been at my (small) company for almost 5 years now and I'm in a position where I can say basically "this is when I'm taking off" not "can I take this off." I'll take some of it without pay - don't care.

Also, I would quit on the spot if they said no because I hate them :)

My wedding is about 5 hours away so I am taking the full week before to get down there.  I figure it will take the full week to wrap up any final appointments (the first time I am meeting my dj, hair trial, and make up trial!).

Saturday:  Pack up our house and drive down south (5 hour drive)

Sunday/Monday:  Finish up last minute DIY projects (name cards, seating chart, venue layout, programs, etc).

Tuesday: Make up and hair trial in the morning

Wednesday:  Mid-day meetings with venue, caterer, and dj.  Maybe the photographer too.

Thursday: Probably a pampering day to try to relax.

Friday: Pick up rentals, set up venue, shower/get ready for rehearsal

    Saturday: WEDDING!!!!!

Sunday:  Post wedding brunch, open gifts etc.

Monday:  Leave bright and early for our honeymoon

Thursday:  Honeymoon ends, pick up stuff from my parents house and head back home

    Friday/Saturday:  Unpack

    Sunday: Relax

    Monday:  Work :(

@blueshoes and dMarie- I wouldn't count on changing your name in the days after the wedding. You'll have to send your paperwork back in to the county and wait for the marriage license to come back before you'll be able to go to the DMV and SS office. :)

I only took Friday off before the wedding.  I didn't have a ton of vacation time overall because I had to take a lot of vacation for my surgeries so I couldn't take more.

I'm taking 3. Our wedding is over Labor day weekend and people will start getting into town on Friday so I wanted a couple of days to do last minute stuff before the craziness begins. I'm not taking any after because Monday is a holiday and we're not doing a honeymoon.

I swear I am taking a month off of work.  I will probably work half time before my wedding for the 2 weeks before.  Then I will be leaving on my honeymoon for 2 weeks after the wedding...

I have been at my company for 5 years now.  After 5 years you start accumulating 4 weeks of vacation :)  So it should be ok.

I'm only taking off the two days before my wedding, Thursday and Friday. my fiance's parents are flying in on Thursday, so it works out well. So I'll work my regular Monday-Wednesday from 7-5 (Tues 9-5), and have two days to tie all loose ends etc.

Then I will be off until the following Monday. It's a total of only 6 works days actually, because the Monday is Memorial Day. So that will be nice.

I'm only taking off the day before the wedding. Its about a 30 min drive from home, so I don't have too far to go plus FI has no job so we really need the money. If he gets a job before the wedding, than I'll take off 2 days before.

Then its honeymoon for a week & after the honeymoon, I go back to work the next day or possibly 2 days.

Where I work, I can take off as much time as I want, but its more dependant upon FI getting a job so I can actually afford the extra time off.
